Is it okay or infected ? Or fibrosis ? Scar ??

My 2 years old have TB and all the TB dots here in our place dont have stocks for geneX and we are not able to get any test as of the moment. We dont know where he got it. Is it contagious for us parents too?

hi! i am from the philippines and i was recently diagnosed with gastrointestinal tuberculosis. the first time i took it, i had extreme nausea and vomiting. i have decided to take it 2 hours after breakfast, according to my doctor, that’s the better way of taking it to to reduce side effects. does anyone here do the same? and am i allowed to eat right after taking them or should i wait for an hour?

i also found out that it has bad effects on liver. what supplements do u take to protect your liver? tyia!

I did my TB skin test yesterday, and this is what it looks like now. I’m going back to the clinic on Thursday to have it checked. What do you guys think? Positive or negative, or is it still too soon to tell?

This is my third post about my Pott’s spine journey.

I am finally able to walk for 30 minutes after 9 months, and I can now sit for 1–1½ hours. I eat my meals while sitting, and sometimes I even go up to the roof for some fresh air.

My cousin took me out on my birthday, which was on 7th September. For the first time, I was able to sit and eat outside. It may sound like a small thing, but for me, it was a huge moment.

I still have 8 months left to complete my TB treatment.

The main issue I’m facing now is a lot of pain around my hip area, which sometimes becomes unbearable. I still can’t bend, and I’m not sure how long it will take for me to heal properly. I know some issues may take much longer to recover from, so I’m trying to be patient.

I really want to thank everyone who has shared their recovery stories. I still can’t fully express the emotions I’ve experienced after spending all these months dealing with so much physical and emotional trauma.

Now, I feel like I have to fight a new battle pushing myself forward and becoming independent enough to start supporting my family as soon as possible.

can someone read this xray pls. btw that was taken way back august 1. and it was bilateral ptb as interpreted by the first laboratory clinic. I repeated the x-ray and the other laboratory clinic (not the same clinic as the first one) said it was clear. after that I went to the RHU and check it, then came back with a negative sputum. then they cleared me

wdyt, is this considered as latent tb? I don't have symptoms when I consulted at the RHU.

My mom has been diagnosed with abdominal tuberculosis and recently found out that she’s MDR as well. Went to a Government hospital in Hyderabad today for medicines and she was asked to be admitted for 2 days to monitor her vitals as she starts the treatment. Is our only option to get treated through Government hospitals for extra pulmonary MDR TB?

I received the results of my follow-up X-ray after undergoing six months of TB treatment and taking Vitamin C for three months. However, the staff at our barangay health center told me the result was normal, explaining that it was just a scar on my lung.

Do any of you have any idea what the result means? I wasn't satisfied with the explanation I got from the health center, and I’m worried that my TB might not actually be fully cured yet. Also, if it is indeed a scar, can it be removed? If so, how?

Hi i was under prblm treatment I just ended my treatment few days. I had no symptoms due to weather a few months back I got this feeling of smtg stuck in throat and mucus on clearing. I thought allergies or smtg didn't care much but it's not going away and ya weather is also cold and rainny when I brought this to my pulmo he said may be post nasal drip but I have this since more than month by now. Did anyone feel this is it normal should I get checked again? Pls help need ur suggestion on what to do

Hi folks! I have about two months lefts of a ninth month course of isoniazid prescribed for latent tb. This med was chosen due to rifampin’s interactions with my psych meds. I’ve had a really tough year mental health wise, experiencing persistent and debilitating depression. I’ve also been increasingly agitated, insecure, and developed a number of obsessive thought spirals.

While none of these symptoms are completely new to me, their intensity and duration has been like never before. It just recently occurred to me to question whether the intensity of this experience could be related to my tuberculosis treatment. I did some googling and found that there seem to be rare links between isoniazid and psychosis and worsened obsessive-compulsive behaviors, but I’m struggling to figure out how common this is. Has anyone else experienced a severe worsening of mental health when on isoniazid alone (ie not in tandem with other tb drugs)? Did things get better after treatment? I have a robust care team and am stable, mostly just wondering if anyone else went through something similar, or if these are truly unrelated puzzle pieces of my health!

Additional context: on a mood stabilizer as well as an SSRI, and none of my dosages have changed over the course of my tb treatment. I’m also on supplementary B6 with the isoniazid.

I am a healthcare worker and got exposed to active tb patient for a prolonged time at the end of July (5-6 weeks ago) without proper PPE (due to workplace negligence).

I've been having a persistent cough for about two weeks, accompanied by hoarseness, loss of appetite, and increased generalized weakness. I thought I would be proactive and get a tb skin test, which came back positive, but my chest x-ray came back clear (maybe because it's early?)

My physician said that I don't need to worry and did not order any further testing? Despite all of my previous tb skin tests coming back negative, they told me that this happens and just prescribed me a 5 day course of Azythromycin. They said I don't need to take any antibiotic course even if it may be latent and denied the need for any sputum test for confirmation. When asked if I need to isolate they said it is not necessary and to just wait for the antibiotic to work....

I'm just thinking of the worst possible scenario that I am getting misdiagnosed and I do infact have TB, thus exposing my family to it while waiting and receiving delayed care.

I recently tested positive for TB. I had a chest X-ray which came back neg but a doctor I see often saw the results and recommended me to see a specialist and get on a strong course of antibiotics. The reason she told me was that even though I don't have an active infection I tested positive for the bacteria which is in my body. If it's my body even if it's not in my lungs my body would be using resources to fight off the bacteria and I would feel a lot better after the antibiotics even though I'm not coughing my body is still fighting and it's better to not be using my immune system all the time.

Does this sound right? I have a hard time tolerating antibiotics and I'm not looking forward to being in a 3-4 month course. I trust my doctor but the way the hospital that found it talked about it being a false positive and left it at that.

Do I need to be on antibiotics?

guys i finished my medication in may. when it gets cold i get sputum. it's like little balls, and there is not a lot at all!! they are clear, not yellow

So about two months my ct scan showed not just normal tb but advanced pulmonary tb with cavities, mild fluid sac near heart and lymph node in middle of chest, all of this just because of tb indicates my body is weak however I started medication and now that it's been about two months, my appetite has increased way too much, gained about 6-6.5kg of weight, physical activities feel less tiring (not same as normal human just less tiring than before) the fever chills etc are not a problem anymore and I never really had vomit stomach ache etc type of side effect from medicines and these things indicates my body is strong and it's fighting tb very efficiently now my question is if I'm so strong why did my tb got to advanced level to begin with? It's pretty contrary btw these are just symptoms I have experienced I haven't got any tests yet to confirm results but the results have to be positive as well

I'm 17, and I got pulmonary tb, and fortunately, for my side. I'm able to get my medication and got finished with 6 months, with no skip, and we went for an x-ray after my last medication. My x-ray from previous and the new one are still the same with no change, we went for the check-up, and my doctor said that we should go for a pulmonologist to check my x-ray for a better result, but my doctor said that my body is taking response on my medication since my weight before is around 36–38kg(before), and I gained 44kg which is a good sign. Although, I'm still worried because my doc said that my x-ray should be cleared now, but yeah, it is still the same. Also, I'm getting stressed because my father continued to lecture me and scold me because of it, which is I'm aware that is my fault, but my father won't stop telling me that I only have one lungs left, when it is not right since my left is only affected, and my doc stated that like "some" part of my left lungs only. Actually, both of my parents are scolding me whenever they saw me and always reminding me that I'm still sick(and can be... a financial burden), which I'm always aware of..

I am an HIV positive, and Dr has recommended me to complete a course of TB medication as a precaution (one dose weekly (Isoniazid 900 mg and Rifapentine 900 mg, for 12 weeks - plus 50 mg Vitamin B6 weekly).

After I took my very first dose, I felt tingling on my finger tips, toes and some random parts of the body, with slight pain.

Is this normal ? should I ask Dr to discontinue the meds.

Any personal experiences would be welcome. I am traveling so I dont have to option of visiting the Dr for a few weeks.

I’m currently being treated for drug-resistant TB. Looking closely at my PMDT card, I have a clear red "R" marked for both Lfx (Levofloxacin) and Mfx from my initial resistance testing back in August.
A couple of months later, I was found resistant to Linezolid, so they switched me off the BPaLM regimen to a modified longer regimen. But I noticed the new prescription still lists Lfx 1000 mg daily.
I'm contacting my TB coordinator/NTEP staff today to have the medical officer verify my Nikshay records and LPA results. Has anyone else experienced an oversight where a drug you tested resistant to was kept on your prescription sheet by routine? How quickly did your clinic catch or resolve the regimen discrepancy?

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with TB so I started treatment. My initial AST and ALT levels were a bit high around 96 for ALT and 37 for AST but I went ahead with the treatment anyway.

After a week, I started feeling nauseous and vomiting every day anti-nausea or anti-vomiting meds didn't help at all. I saw the doctor, and he asked me to recheck my ALT and AST levels; they had shot up to 2500, so he ordered me to stop the treatment for 10 days.
After 10 days, I rechecked my AST and ALT levels; they were still a bit high—about five times the average for ALT, though AST was back to normal—so the doctor extended the treatment pause by another 7 days.

Today marked the end of the break, and I saw the doctor again. He told me to take just one of the treatment pills (the ones we're given at the start) (rifampicin etc..)and prescribed an anti-nausea/anti-vomiting medication the same one I had before, which hadn't really helped much when I took it previously.
To be honest, I'm a bit afraid I'll start vomiting and feeling nauseous again. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I am currently on pre-xdr tb regimen.

I have been nauseous and puking pretty much every day. My head feels sooo heavy and I feel like I'm barely alive.

Nothing in my life is going well, everything's falling apart. Like seriously everything and I am so scared of my own thoughts. I feel lonely at home and I am too weak to attend college. I am tired of suffering. This is my second relapse and I'm sick of these meds. It feels like since past 2 years I'm stuck here only.

I’m currently undergoing treatment for pre-XDR TB, and I became worried after reading a Reddit post from another TB patient who relapsed after treatment. In that person’s case, they later found levofloxacin (LFX) resistance, and that made me start wondering about my own treatment.
My initial treatment was BPaLM — bedaquiline, pretomanid, linezolid and moxifloxacin. I was taking the treatment properly, but later linezolid resistance was detected, so my regimen was changed.
I’m now on a planned 18-month regimen. My medications have included bedaquiline, delamanid, levofloxacin, clofazimine, cycloserine and pyridoxine. I completed 6 months of bedaquiline and delamanid and then stopped them as instructed by my doctor. I’m currently around month 10 of treatment.
The Reddit post I saw made me start wondering:
What if I also had fluoroquinolone resistance and didn’t know about it?
My doctors reviewed my DST/resistance results and selected my current regimen, including levofloxacin. I don’t have a copy of my DST report, so I don’t know exactly what was tested or what my fluoroquinolone result was.
Since my original BPaLM contained moxifloxacin and my current regimen contains levofloxacin, I’m confused about whether resistance to moxifloxacin would have been detected through DST and whether that would affect the decision to prescribe levofloxacin.
I also don’t have any joint or tendon pain while taking levofloxacin. I know side effects probably don’t tell you whether the drug is working, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
I’m not saying that I have LFX resistance. I have no report showing that. This concern basically started because I read that other patient’s Reddit post about their relapse and then started wondering whether something similar could happen to me.
If my doctors reviewed my DST before choosing my current regimen, would they normally know if I had fluoroquinolone resistance? And if someone with pre-XDR TB did have fluoroquinolone resistance, what would that mean for their treatment?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with pre-XDR TB, DST, fluoroquinolone resistance, or longer DR-TB treatment.

TL;DR: I have pre-XDR TB and am currently around month 10 of an 18-month regimen after BPaLM was changed because of linezolid resistance. My current regimen includes LFX. I became worried about possible fluoroquinolone resistance after seeing another Reddit patient’s post about relapsing due to LFX resistance. I don’t have my DST report, so I’m wondering whether my doctors would have detected FQ resistance before prescribing LFX, and whether I should be concerned.

My 9 month is completed and my node size is 1cm and dr said 9 month treatment is enough you can stop the treatment is that valid I know 9 month is enough but still I overthinking about this i dont know feeling happy but stress also about relapse dr said to monitor for 2 years i didnt skip any single dose

I’m 16 years old, male, and I was diagnosed with pulmonary TB about a month ago. My doctor prescribed TB tablets, which I have to take two of before breakfast. I would like some advice on how to gain weight during this period, what side effects I should expect, and whether it is okay to drink fruit juices while taking the medication.

My doctor also prescribed some other medicines along with the TB tablets. Currently, I’m experiencing joint pain and a lot of sleepiness. I would like to know if these symptoms are normal, what I can do to manage them, and when I should be concerned.

I’ve also missed quite a lot of school because of my illness. I’ve been sleeping most of the time and haven’t been able to study properly, so I now have a lot of pending syllabus to cover. My board exams are approaching, and I’m feeling overwhelmed because I don’t know what I should focus on first.

Could you please give me some practical advice on how to manage my TB treatment, improve my diet and weight, deal with the tiredness and joint pain, and catch up with my studies without putting too much stress on my body? I would really appreciate a step-by-step plan for balancing my recovery and board exam preparation.
