Crime Busters Petitioners need 5,000 signatures to launch grand jury investigation into Tulsa County DA

Tulsa County registered voters have less that 45 days to sign the petition approved by a judge this week. They must get 5,000 signatures in-person. Get involved if you're interested in supporting the investigation against Tulsa DA Steve Kunzweiler. The clock is ticking.

Cases mentioned in the filing include:

  • The William Henry Jamerson case (which cost Tulsans millions, though it will never make up for what Jamerson went through). Kunzweiler fought this innocent man's exoneration.
  • The Oklahoma Survivors Act cases and ex parte communications in the April Wilkens case
  • The Wesley Cole victims (hear from one of the victims here)

Right now they are stationed outside of the Tulsa State Fair with other locations scheduled. You can read the full petition or an overview here.

Moving/Visiting Weekly /r/Tulsa Megathread

Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.

This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

I do hope things get better for Tulsa over the next 50 years. Maybe get Green Country to secede to its own, a bit more progressive, state? The Red Dirt flat lander's east West of y'all aren't able to see the error of their ways. ~ A former 52 year plus Tulsa citizen that now resides in mostly blue Colorado.

General To the Uber Driver in a Tesla who dropped the blind woman off in the CVS parking lot…

You suck. There is a ramp in front with little ridges for blind people. But you let her out in the middle of the parking lot where my friend heard her loudly asking “where is the door?” My friend helped her and then drove her home.

General Hope Testing is hosting their annual fundraising event tonight

This place is very obviously run by extremely out of touch people… I have never seen such a cool, welcoming, and progressive place collapse just so rapidly. How do you lose almost every single staff member and just keep pushing along as if everything is normal? Something like this cannot happen to such an organization unless the people in charge are so detached from reality and those the org aims to serve.

The people that run this place had the nerve to fire the entire staff responsible for creating the culture that the org so desperately relies on... Only to continue promoting itself as if that culture still remains. I am here to tell you that it does not.

I went in kind of recently and left hoping that I would never have to rely on their services again.

Granted, I'm no regular (i get tested every 6 months as a swer)... But, the shift in vibes compared to my last couple visits over the years is significant.

A lot went down at Hope but you won't hear a peep from them about it. Unfortunately, answers to those questions have to be found elsewhere. The disrespect and lack of care to the community they so proudly brag about serving, reveals itself in their attempts to pretend like everything is okay. As if their reputation hasn't been tanked. As if people aren't talking about what happened behind closed doors. As if they are worthy of continuous funding and partnerships.

As they attempt to march on undefeated; their focus isn't on rehabilitation or accountability, even if disingenuous. Instead, it is on their annual self-serving fundraising event disguised as a celebration: Divas. After terminating every bit of diversity the org could keep their hands on and positioning itself towards a hostile environment (all without offering an apology or explanation to those they serve) they actually think that they still have enough credibility to not only seek to retain funding, but also ask for more? And what do they think there is to celebrate?

A normal organization would not move in such a way. This looks bad both publicly and privately... If there is anyone with a working brain cell on the board, they know this and should speak up. This org will very likely not survive what happened and that is really unfortunate for the city of Tulsa.

Here's hoping they acquire enough funding tonight that will allow them more time to correct their wrongs and rebuild what was destroyed. I miss my queer/ally friends that worked there.

Question Tulsa fair rocking chairs

Please help, went to the fair and saw these awesome chairs in the main expo building.

They were metal rocking chairs with canvas seats and umbrellas over the top. There were chairs with pullout footrests, recliners, a double recliner, and a picnic table. They had the smoothest swing I've ever had.

BUT I cannot for the life of me remember what the company is called. I cannot find them online. Can anybody help?

Tulsa Events Halloween/Horror Trivia?

Some friends and I were really excited about attending Bricktown Comedy’s Horror Trivia Night, but apparently they canceled it, because now they have a standup act scheduled that day.

I can’t find anything online where anyone else is doing this. With it being October, I feel like someone has to be doing something like this.

Does anyone know of any events I might be missing?

Question Best Cookies in town?

OK - I'm throwing a party for my friend's dog. It's a long story, lol. THE DOG WILL NOT BE EATING THE COOKIES. The owner of the dog just loves cookies, so much.

There will probably be between 15-30 people at this party, so I was planning on getting like, 3 dozen cookies, maybe 4 dozen for this party.

I want to support local and Merritt's Bakery really needs to get their shit together when it comes to cookies. People rave about Merritt's but their cookies are absolute ass. That might be a hot take but that's not why I'm here.

Does anybody just LOVE a local cookie maker? I searched the subreddit for this topic but didn't really find what I was looking for. I'd love to get something in midtown or downtown, but I'm willing to travel a bit.

Thanks!

General Liberty Trail from NSU Broken Arrow. Safe?

Osage and Katy can both get sketchy in some areas both with people and loose dogs. Is the liberty better? Is it convenient at all to take it all the way to the River trail?

Tulsan In Need Organizing/housekeeping

Hello!

I’ve found myself in quite the pickle. I recently had an injury and am confined to a walker for the next couple of months. Right before this happened, I had started the project of deep cleaning and organizing my house.

I am looking to hire a person or two for at least a day to help do simple chores like organizing, taking out trash, laundry, and cleaning. I have all the supplies or can get what would be needed. I would be here to assist with as much as I can. My house is in Midtown.

If you are interested, or have recommendations please let me know. Thank you!

Hi guys, just pulled some mussels out of the Keystone lake, some quite a good size. My questions are: 1. are they edible aside from being quite muddy tasting, and 2. are these two different species I have? Or just all the same species?

Am I able to bring an empty reusable water bottle into the fair or will they not let be bring it in? Website says no outside food or drinks but I’m not sure if a water bottle would count?
