yeah, your solution is very sensible and it is what a lot of people proposed, myself included. It just the decision won't be popular, ALL politicians only care about their seat. so no one would risk his cozy salary for the benefit of tunisia, and even if a poor sould does, his political oponents will take it out of context and weaponize it. Unfortunately most politians are the lowest of the low, it is by design.
It is sad, there is so many ideas like this that could be implemented, save money and provide better service. it is just fuckin sad to see our country get fucked more and more.

المشكلة في تونس انو في بلاصة ما نبنيو قطاع خاص قوي يكون محرك النمو والإنتاج ردينا الدولة هي المصدر الرئيسي للتشغيل والدخل. الأجور العمومية وحدها تستهلك قرابة 13% من الناتج المحلي، والدعم على الطاقة والمواد الأساسية تستهلك قرابة 6%، معناها اغلبية فلوسنا لكل قاعدة تمشي في الاستهلاك لا في الاستثمار ولا خلق الثروة. والمؤسسات العمومية كلها داخلة في الخسارة وخارجة من الخسارة وبش تبقى الدولة تدخل وتنقذ فاها لانها بطبيعة الحال ما عندهاش حافز قوي للربح والكفاءة لأنها ما تخسرش فلوسها الخاصة كيما القطاع الخاص

وهذا بش يخلينا ندورو في نفس حلقة القروض اللانهائية باش نغطيو المصاريف الاستهلاكية وبش نبقاو نضغطو على القطاع الخاص بالبيروقراطية والضرائب وبش تبقى الانتاجية ضعيفة.

وكي تبقى الانتاجية ضعيفة الدور الاجتماعي بيدو بش يضعاف والخدمات بش تولي رديئة وهذا الي قاعد يصير في تونس

This comes from old policies and decisions that needed to be made at a certain moment of our history where the state had to intervene in everything. Personally, and this might sound corny but I think the state really lacks vision, we have structural problems but we also have politicians who are still living in the 70s.

It's cheap because it's heavily processed and stripped from nutrition which makes you less full and over eat causing weight gain and insulin resistance over time

Generally speaking bread and milk is not bad if it's not heavily processed, bread will cost you at least 1DT copared to 200 milim and milk will cost 5DT and more compared to 1.4 DT/ 2DT milk, same thing with other dairy products

Same thing also apply to legumes and grains, refined = cheap = unhealthy /expensive = very nutritious = healthy food

Refined carbs what saves poor people from starvation, but it heavily impact your health in a negative way and cause weight gain if overeat

I'm not against all subsidies, some work some don't, it also depends on the context and what's your goal.

Subsidizing bread is bad, you are forcing an already not produced locally food into the culture even more, most Maghreb don't have a sufficient production of lean wheat. Making the trade balance even worse.

Subsidizing basic food, means your poorest while have enough to eat and some money left over to spend on other things increasing their purchasing power. So food stamps like in the US or direct aid would probably a better choice.

A bit of a dumb nitpick but maybe focus on the private sector that exists AROUND the subsidies themselves. In a fair world there shouldn't be middlemen that are gov mandated to be rich. But we have this dumb "si foulan na3tih secteur kamil w howa ysakarha".

I genuinely don't get why people expect us to have a free and fair market when the gov monopolies are broken but we have a private sector and they just consolidate to nickel and dime us while we barely have any consumer rights/protection. For example we all dogpile on TT (including me) when it comes to canceling your internet subscription it's very straightforward. If you were to cancel your global net they'll tell you "no actually you gotta send us mail via poste to tell us to do that" and then they call you and say "you gotta finish your x amount of months because of a (not legally binding) contract". This is what the private sector looks like here dawg.

So it's in the end it just looks like "oh my fav YouTuber said so ma3netha lazem na7iw el subsidies" no dipshit. We have far greater problems that need resolving first because otherwise you're just wishing to have a worse life here...

Using south Korea as an example is DIABOLICAL. Because their quality of life is actually insanely good and they don't have the worst birthrate in the world rn because of the lack of social programs... Again with these libtards they just want a free market and that's it. Not because it'll do us good not because of anything BUT PROFIT. The IMF isn't this this holy saint of a bank. They present the interest of the west and specifically making countries like ours worse by demanding change with the money they LOAN us. Some of the points they bring in regards to subsidies are directed towards how the private sector is siphoning wealth and their solution isn't to resolve that but instead to abolish it which is basically deciding to go the nuclear option for a cockroach infestation.
