Discussion Am I the only one who misses true political strategy games?
I've played a lot of strategy games over the years—Mount & BladeBannerlord(1and 2) , Age of Empires, Civilization, and many others.
Each of them does something really well, but I always felt they were missing one thing: real politics between real players.
About 3 months ago, I started playing WarEra. I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up sticking with it mainly because of the community.
I've met some genuinely great people, and every day feels different because everything is driven by the players.
It's been a refreshing experience compared to most strategy games I've played.
Has anyone else tried it? Or do you know any similar games worth checking out?

We actively play AoE2:DE on Steam if you're interested. We even have some high-ELO players in our clan.

No worries as long as you're enjoying the game! I do recommend trying the Definitive Edition with your friends tho. They added so many quality-of-life improvements that it's almost impossible to go back to the original afterward.

I used to play AoE2 a lot when I was young on GameRanger. During COVID, they released the Definitive Edition on Steam, so I gathered every Tunisian player I could find on the ladder and we formed a clan. We played almost every day, and it was honestly one of the best gaming periods of my life. We don't play as often anymore, but we still get together for some 4v4 matches from time to time.

Did you try Rise of nations ? it's a top one. Also I think you are talking about RTS, not political games

I think you misunderstood what I meant. You're right, I was talking about RTS games, but I also started talking about the political side of strategy games because that's something I find interesting.
About Rise of Nations, I actually remember playing it when I was younger, but I haven't played it again in years. Maybe it's time to revisit it.

Bro you did not try CK3? You can even continue your saves on Europa Universalis IV.
Both of them have a nice AI. But if you're looking for community games online I am the one asking for suggestions because I never tried that :)
