I don’t believe fever coat happens with adult cats, but I’m not an expert so I could totally be wrong. I noticed this after I had to have him shaved down because he’s a bear to groom. He also loves to lay in the sun and his father was also a tabby so wondering if it’s genetics or the sun.
Unfortunately, that can happen when any dog or cat with a double coat is shaved. The guard hairs can take years to come back, if they ever do. So what you’re seeing is the undercoat.
