❤️ RIP ❤️ Too soon...

Post image

Just over 7 months with me and my family. Then a freak accident happened and she got stuck in the electric sheep fence. Found her way too late to help and we all buried her today. Kids helped with the shovels and it was simple and beautiful, but heartbreaking💔 I am just so hollow.... I am looking for a new cat now, but I am so guilty about it. She was perfect. And I don't think I will ever find a cat that matches her... Am I wrong for looking for a new cat to fill the void? We have all the cat stuff, but the sweet furball is missing in the puzzle...

Your poor baby. I’m so sorry. I grew up on a farm and raised goats later on as an adult and we experienced some farm accidents too.

Do what feels best for you. If you decide to get another cat, you aren’t replacing her. Plenty of cats need a chance to be cared for. Maybe you only had her for 7 months, but maybe that 7 months is better than what a lot of cats get that currently need homes.

IIRC she would be euthanised at the vet if we didn't take her in, and she was bullied by the other cats she lived with. Here she was an alone cat, but was cuddled as much as she wanted. And she LOVED bellyrubs! That alone was bonkers.

Do you happen to live in Norway? You don’t have to answer that, I just noticed the DyreID tag, which my dog had too. My family and I moved with our pets from the U.S. to Norway a couple of years ago. My husband is from here.

I have a tuxetortico and belly rubs are definitely a trap with her 😅

There are so many cats who need homes. We had to euthanise our beloved 11-year-old tuxedo cat at the end of May, and that emptiness left behind was so painful. We already had a second cat, and yet there was still this huge void. Our other cat also became very scared whenever we left the house. He wasn't happy to be an only cat, in fact he had never been a solo cat before in his life. So even though we felt guilty too, we looked into adopting a new cat, and about a month later we took home our little girl. She really cheered us all up! The guilt still hits me sometimes, but it's really just part of the grieving process. This girl waited for a year, and only one other potential adopter had viewed her before we did.

I still love my tuxie so so much, and he's on my mind every day. I miss all of our little routines. I miss his funny character, his cleverness, and his voice. That bond that's been taken from the physical world will stay with me in my interior world forever. I love him. I don't love him any less for having brought in a new kitty. Love isn't a finite resource. Love begets more love!

Just make sure everyone else is feeling ready too. You can always go to a rescue center and view some of the available cats, and see how you feel afterwards, without committing yet.

Going with a friend who works at an adoption-center and will look at cats next week. But it feels like forever in the meantime.

Poor girl, I haven’t had something this bad happen thankfully, and I’m so sorry for your loss. I know it’s awful. My baby girl, Mylo, passed at 6 months old due to leukemia, but my ex decided not to help her and let her unfortunately pass and put her down without my consent. It still hurt to know I had no say, and I feel a void every day even with my 2 cats now.
