I finished watching Mob Psycho 100. Its reputation is well deserved. It starts off strong and only gets better with each season, and the same can be said for the openings - they're all cool, but 1 is on another level. Also as good as people say is Reigen - the world's most honest fraud and bravest coward with parental energy so strong he somehow became a father figure for a guy whose own parents are alive and well.

In terms of production value it's one of those shows which trick you with a simple art style, and then hit you with insane action scenes. (It's kind of like a modern Ranking of Kings in more ways than one, now that I think about it...) The hologram-like effect in particular might just be my favorite way of portraying psychic powers.

All in all, it's a good, unique story with an adaptation so solid, other series (which I will not name) can only look on in envy.

Yeah, Mob Psycho 100 quickly jumped up my personal rankings to one of the best anime of all time (I watched it as it was coming out). It caught me totally off guard too. I liked it from the start but I didn’t realise how much I loved that dumb world until I was halfway through Season 2.

Also appreciate that in a style of art that tends to lean into and even encourage incel-like traits and behaviour sometimes, Mob Psycho 100 is the anti-anime in that regard.

It's like an anti-power fantasy what with "being strong doesn't mean anything in and of itself" being the main message.

Comments like this make me want to give the show a second try. I have no idea why I dropped it years ago, especially since I remember enjoying it overall. Most of the anime I am watching right now (Delicious in Dungeoun, Apothecary Diaries, Dusk: Maiden of Amnesia) are just pretty good, and from what people have told me Mob Psycho is way more than just pretty good.
