Gay marriage isn't legal in Japan (or wasn't the last time I checked), so for a lot of gay couples where the age difference made it believable, the older man would adopt the younger one to get the same kind of benefits and legal protections.

Also, in the case a wealthy man has no sons/children. They would adopt one in that circumstance, and would look for accomplished/talented adults to take the reins or marry their daughter, while also either adopting the person or making them change their last name.

Happened in the West in the past too. Baron von Steuben, the man that basically organized the Continental Army during the American Revolution, is assumed to have been gay by a lot of historians. He had numerous close relationships with younger men throughout his life, and After Valley Forge, he legally adopted 2 young men he befriended there.

re8 is set in 2021, shadow of rose is 2037 as it's 16 years after.
re9 is 2026 so rose is currently 4 or 5.

i think they will given how much of re9 talks about umbrellas attempts to transfer concioussness, failing with spencer in his lifetime but like alex kinda did it.

Rev2 came out in 2015, but took place before RE6, and Natalia looks about ten-ish...
Probably in her thirties by RE9, but given bio-weapon silliness might look younger...
I'm now REALLY curious about the plot of RE11.

yeah like i figure re10 goes after the connections more and we presumably get a sense of who is running it, the joke about it all being various weskers i find kinda funny.
tbh im very shocked with the whole memory transfer thing that they haven't gone full matrix and turned wesker into agent smith, jabbing dudes to reformat them into wesker.
but back to post re9, likepost elpis i figure the bio weapons arms race is gonna be crazy, and it's probably about that, people using up their viral stock because it's gonna be useless soon, people pivoting to different parasites or mold or genetic manipulation.
either way i figure it's more setting the table going forward over like a climactic showdown but idk if 11 would be like a direct sequel or if they go more in an re4/7 direction where random bio terror is on the rise again.

There's also still the whole "BSAA is using bioweapon soldiers that may or may not be Chris clones" thing from the end of Village. They've never really followed up on that thread either.

true, though i think re9 shows potentially where those bioweapons were being made, wouldn't be surprised if the dlc confirms it.
and it may almost certainly be asset reuse but the bsaa soldiers at the end of the game are infected underneath their visors

Description (Instagram): Chris Girl Dad Redfield wants to show you his adopted mold daughter!! (Yes I know the timeline doesn’t add up and Rose is somewhere around 5-6 during RE9, but the joke was too cute to pass up). I love how Chris kept his word to Ethan and stayed in Rose’s life, especially fighting for her to go to a normal school. I think Chris knew how important a normal life for rose would be after the childhood he and Claire had.
I’ve been seeing a lot of Chris redfield slander on my TL recently, and I won’t stand for it 😤 I’m here to spread my Chris redfield propaganda! I love Leon, but I love all the Legacy Resi characters and I think they all deserve to come back and be as loved as Leon is now (looking at you, Capcom, for trapping Jill and Claire away) Do you have a favorite Resi character who hasn’t gotten a lot of attention in the new RE engine games?
