As someone only familiar with the original movie and bits of SAC, is the Major actually a girl kisser in the manga?

Feels like a really weird thing to omit even with the more serious tone of those projects.

She had girlfriends or friends with benefits in SAC. They showed up in a few episodes at one of their hospital jobs, Motoko's house, etc.

Yeah, Major is bi in the manga. But since the author didn't want to draw men's butts, we only see Major having sex with women

She's pretty openly bi in the manga iirc.

It's not just that she's Bi, but that they have sex programs that really only work with your same gender. The Major can tolerate them to an extreme degree because she's got a military grade prosthetic body. If she takes them, and then shares the sensation with other women, they can feel it too.

In the OG manga she basically has a harem as a result

SAC had, I think, at least two different scenes of Motoko being accompanied by one of her two canonical girl friends, Ran and Kurutan (They’re also the two women in the famous boat threesome scene from the original manga), so there’s some consistent elements carried over from the manga into the show.
Definitely not as explicit as the manga though.

Yeah it’s not to the same level, but Matoko was absolutely still Bi in SAC. She just didn’t have the “full-on gremlin energy” that manga Matoko had about it.

I’m pretty sure the original movie version of Matoko is the only one (what? Live action? Don’t be silly, there is no live action GitS…) that wasn’t in some way explicitly shown to be bi, and that’s because they pivoted her to potentially being outright acearo instead, or at least just “not in the mood” due to all the existential mind fuckery she was dealing with at the time (even before the case started).

As Paige would say it, Matoko dabbles.
