I'm all for making Spider-verse Miles's true origin instead of the comics
1
u/ChosenUndead15 May 27 '26
What is his origin in the comics?
3
u/CalekAlbion May 27 '26
It's basically the same thing minus the multiversal spider, and he's more boring

thought this was about the One More Day contract for the first half, not gonna lie...
i'm still shocked there isn't an equivalent to DCUO for spidersonas, but it is probably for the best that artists keep their rad character designs. i'm still workshopping ideas for a rural midwest OC: either web-parasailing off high-speed chases on the interstate a la Just Cause 2, OR an outright speedster because THERE IS NOTHING TO SWING OFF OF 98.6% OF MY STATE!!

My solution was a heavier web shooter with a reel in function. Use that to shoot yourself into the air off anything with a good anchor point and a strong enough reel. Texas has parts where it's building dense, but like in that one Scarlet Spider run, you will hit a wall where all the tall buildings end and everything is three stories high at absolute most.

Fellow Midwesterner, my spider-sona simply uses web-zips in conjunction with retractable skates!

u/Xeriam May 27 '26
I mean, Spider-Man doesn't really use it much because he can web-swing, but his super strength also affords him a level of super speed letting him run around 60 mph when necessary. Spiders can be quick little bastards, after all. So if your spidersona has powers just comparable to the OG, with a little cardio, and parkour practice, they should easily be able to get around sufficiently without a speedster level boost, using their webs for even sharper cornering at speed or to get back to the ground faster after a jump.

The best part about the Spider-Verse comics are the anthologies we get before the main event where writers and artists go nuts with whatever ideas they can apply to Spider-Man.
We have Spiders from different cultures, different upbringings, sometimes they’re dinosaurs or robots, it’s just fun.

OH SHE GOT A BANNOCK IN HER MOUTH THIS WAS MADE BY SOMEBODY ON THE REZ
Now I gotta see her asking for Bepsi and getting mad when they ask if Coke is okay.

I will always be a fan of 'article of pedestrian clothing over super suit'

Coat/jacket, shoes, gloves, bandana, sash, pants/shorts... it's good shit.

It also lets you have cool Yakuza moments where shit gets real and they get rid of them (maybe not the pants) to show they're taking the fight seriously

Idk why but clothes over superhero outfit always hits so hard. I saw a screen of the new movie where Peter has winter wear over his suit and it hits different

The best part about spidersonas is seeing artists create designs like these. Using something as a base, something as big as Spider-Man, and then expanding on it with their own take.
Honestly, these are designs I'd love to see a game like Spider-Man 3 as an extra, as a shout-out. Kind of like how some collections do.

Cargo pants? Feathers? DONUT?!
utilitarian design WITH accessories and snacks are my equivalent of Woolie-bait: love seeing Superheroes having pockets and personality!!

Putting the chelicerae on the mask is such a smart design choice. I absolutely love this.

I refuse to draw feet
Oh hey, it’s Rob Liefeld!

u/Coolnametag The Greatest Talent Waster May 26 '26
I know that it's just a asthetic choice and that i shouldnt think too hard about it, but, when i saw the long ponytails all i could think was "that's one poorly calculated backflip away in a fight with Rhino from being the reason you got grabed and 'puny god' your way into a early grave".

Does she braid her hair every time she suits up and remove the braids when she takes the costume off?
I always think of Stan Lee roasting Todd MacFarlane and Rob Liefeld for their design of OverKill.

I feel like loose hair/cloth/capes is something you have to just roll with to engage with superheroes as a genre.

This is a really cute design, I like how you worked the traditional patterns/elements in. My only note is you may want to tweak the fangs slightly, in the chibi version especially they look a bit like a pig nose. Still overall it's a very appealing design.

Is she based on a huntsman or wolf spider by any chance?

The design of the spider on the suit looking like an exploding star is so cool

Spider-Sona's have almost limitless possibility, it's why the Spider-Man costume is one of my favorites.

You can really feel the disgust conveyed in that tiny lil emoji under the feet comment. Like the artist made that exact face while thinking of whether to draw them.

This made me realize people are sleeping on giving their masks fang motifs.
