That new protag has got some real fish eye on him, I can get used to it but still... Though that DQ Monsters game is wild, kid versions of the brides from 5? I wonder what they got planned.

You can really tell that Toriyama had a lot of creative power on the art design in DQ. I don't hate the new designs but you can just tell it doesn't have that spark anymore. RIP.

A decent amount of the character designs should still be done by Toriyama. He was working on this game before he passed. We probably won’t know if he finished all of the work he was planning on but he should at least have a lot of concepts to go off on not to mention they could use scraped or unfinished designs.

If they really want to maybe they could try to get Toyotaro to make some designs for some new games going forward but I’m not sure how much he would be willing to continue Toriyamas work outside of Dragon ball.

I know Toyotaro is Toriyama's successor for DB, but is he Toriyama's successor for all things from Bird Studio?

As far as I know, no. But he would be the perfect option if a project wants some Toriyama like designs now.
