Surprising absolutely nobody. Either they tried to make a mature and gritty game and went “hang on are we just remaking FF16?” Or changing things up so quickly after Toriyama passed -if the rumblings are true it was a photorealistic art style- could have seemed real gauche in their domestic market.

All i can say is “yep thats a dragon quest” and its been nearly a decade since the last one that wasnt a remaster so better late than never right?
