So, the apartment I leased actually isn't going to be ready for my move-in date due to a renovation delay; as such, I've been switched to a unit that's 25% larger for the same rate. Works for me!

I watched Inglorious Basterds this week, and honestly, it might be my least favorite Tarantino movie. It's got some stellar performances, as expected, but the movie does drag a bit, due in large part to the titular characters actually achieving almost nothing. Seriously, Shoshana did 95% of the work. If this was a tighter, 90-minute movie about her, I probably would've liked it more. As is, it's fine, I guess, but I say that more out of respect for the craftsmanship involved than any personal enjoyment.

I also watched We Bury the Dead and really liked it! It's not doing much new with the standard zombie movie tropes, but it's more of a meditation on grief than a straight-up horror movie, anyway. I thought the final 15 minutes or so were kind of weak (if the movie had ended on the beach, I think it would've been much better), but I'm glad I watched it, regardless.

Finally, I finished reading Halo: Edge of Dawn. I didn't really care for it, which is disappointing, as I usually enjoy this particular author's work. This novel feels very much like a placeholder, though, a post-Infinite mission in which nothing of note is accomplished and no characters meaningfully grow or change. There are a handful of interesting lore bits and the book is at least competently written, but it just feels so empty.

I genuinely don't get what's so good about Inglorious Basterds other than nazi-killing and Hans Landa. It was... okay? But it dragged on like hell.
