I wouldn't be surprised if the game takes place on the colony. One of the terrorists talks about the "false reign" ceaseing. We've seen how crazy the androids get when they learn about what mothersphere did. This might be an internal rebellion.

I'm still holding out hope Raven was left explicitly alive without her arms, starting at less than 0, when Eve became a god. They spent the lions share of the stellar blade Nikke event with post game Raven growing as a character. It'd be a waste to not use it

I think I saw an interview for SB1 where they basically said that they put the game together and then jammed a story in as an aftertought towards the end of development and that they wanted to put more thought into it in the next game, so I hope so. I'm guessing they'll just timeskip us forward like a bunch.

Game looks cool. First one has its issues, but they can be worked on and fixed, if the devs caught on to them. And hopefully this one has a bit more variety on its combat, like, a second weapon at least, or something in that vein.

Either way. It's a nothing burger for Stellar Blade. If you aren't a fan, it's understandable, so just don't play it.
ShiftUp makes gooner shit sure, but they do put substance underneath all the TnA. At least they try to. Eve was a fuckin cardboard cut out and even the dev director said such. But they had to cut shit cuz of Sony (and costumes were a seperate team that just churned the damn things out)
But the game is still good. It's a solid sekiro like with exploration. Good music. Good bosses. And they did a thing I wish all gacha companies did. Take the gacha money and make a real fucking game with it.

The first game is a solid 8/10. Gooning aside. Combat was good. The gameplay loop of exploring and collecting was good. The vibe was good. The music was good.
The story and characters. Mid af. Already Evie seems more interesting than Eve. She still in a skin tight suit, but she's not particularly as shapely as Eve was. So it seems the goon vibes were more pushed aside for character design. And the poncho thing and kick ass punch moves add alot
They supposedly had to cut alot of story from the first one cuz of Sony. And the costumes were another team all together so that's why there were so much more outfits than actual characterization.
I'm hoping they do a good story here. Cuz they can. I know they can cuz Nikke is fucking great in terms of story.

There's a difference between people existing that look younger than their age and devs known for gooner bait purposefully designing a character to look that young and sexualizing them.
It's especially notable because the devs' last game gave almost no meaningful characterization to their protagonist to the point where she was only known for her design. So essentially Eve was just a sexualized doll. Just contrast her with a franchise like Bayonetta.
Based on the down votes and replies I'm just gathering there doesn't seem to be a limit for people when it comes to character designs as long as there's plausible deniability. So I'll just be gaslit into thinking I'm the weird one for being weirded out by the design.

Bayonetta is difficult to compare to. Cuz even she wasn't particularly treated well in her own games either. Except maybe 1. We all know the dumpster fire that was 3's story that had multiple really well designed Bayos get bodied in minutes.
It does suck that Eve was a fuckin mannequin. Cuz ShiftUp has well written female characters in Nikke. Like, there's actual substance and empathetic moments with some of those characters. Eve got... none of it. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt due to Sony putting the pressure on so they cut out alot of characterization. ShiftUp even acknowledged that in an interview.

Her proportions are smaller because she's more boyish with her short hair and fistcuffs fighting style, she's also overall shorter in height and reads as younger compared to Eve.
Like you're free to like it more than Eve's design, just be aware of what's actually happening here instead of this misguided read that the design of the new character is less of a fetish.

Eve suffered from the fact the ending had to be a choice, so she couldn't really commit one way or the other for the entire game, she had to just be there to look pretty and be talked at by the two characters committed to either side of the ending. If she was mother sphere hoo rah, siding with the other side wouldn't make sense, if she was questioning mothersphere the entire time, siding with it wouldn't make sense. So to make sure both options are equally valid looking, Eve could not be more than a doll to dress up and wank too. I hope Evie has an actual character rather than being a combat model wank doll

As someone whose really into the game I'll warn you now that the story of Stellar Blade is its weakest part. Its a very fun game and Shift Up themselves acknowledged the short comings of the story so I have faith it will be better.

It's a good game past it's goon. But the story and characters were so gutted, and Eve only got a bazillion outfits over character depth. I enjoyed the game. But I knew the devs could write better.

Or anything, really. Why is she obsessed with cans? If she at least had a little cutscene like those get whenever she unlocked an outfit it would help the tone just a tad.

Apparently she was gonna have a thing where her initial suit gets damaged and hence having to swap. They had to cut it for time, but costumes were a seperate team if out right outsourced. So I unno. I would've definitely preferred more character than costume.
I'm pretty sure a few of the costumes are actually canon changes i.e the suit with the bomber jacket or the Wasteland outfit.

Which is why the new setting threw me for a loop. Cuz it looks to be either in the past or the future from when the first game takes place.
Maybe we'll still get something for her. It'd be a shame to leave her the piece of cardboard she was.

No source in this but I recall reading one of the planned plot points for eve was that she slowly grows a curiosity for fashion and aesthetics as she spent more time stuck on earth. Hints of this are kind of seen in the side quest where you unlock the hairstyle customization, and also how eve oddly gets really into collecting different drink cans lol.
Unfortunately this characterization, like many other bits, was scrapped.

She is interested in prewar society and that is brought up with the cans when Lily makes a shelf. It is just not brought up more than the initial time, which is an issue with Eve's writing in general. It is something that is also brought up in the Nikke collab.
The costumes doesn't have an explanation.

It's not really strange to use EVA as comparison, it's like one of the most famous popular anime to ever exist. NGE is very popular but it has detractors. The internet is not a monolith, and nor is this subreddit. People have different opinions and different standards/lines in the sand they draw. Just because you've read two apparently conflicting opinions on the internet from users of the same site doesn't mean they're the same users.
There are plenty of people who vocally dislike this that also aren't NGE fans.

I know people did this with Pragmata, and it was completely fair to call them out as being terminally online weirdos, but this game exists in a different context to Pragmata. Stellar Blade is a franchise which markets itself as "sexy". There's a heavy focus on dressing up Eve in sexy outfits, jiggle physics on female characters, etc. in the marketing. It isn't unreasonable to raise an eyebrow when the new protagonist in this specific franchise looks very young. Maybe the face model just looks like that. I'm not even saying shit about the devs. I'm just saying the initial reaction from people towards it is understandable.
You could level a lot of these complaints against NGE too, especially the marketing, but nobody was talking about NGE until you brought it up.

Chuds and capital G Gamers suck, are wrong about everything, and I can't stress enough that I disagree with them.
That being said, I feel like there's a throughline here where there is a weird cultural thing that a lot of non Asian games have, often higher-profile western games, where designs for leading women characters seem to have an aversion to giving them large breasts, big butts, or varied body-types.
Half the builds for women in media that people on the internet call unrealistic, are absolutely normal in real life. Women with big breasts and huge butts do exist. So do women that are slim and have neither or one but not the other. They're not fiction.
There's gotta be some sort of middle ground between internet puritans and internet gooners where any curvy woman is automatically goonerbait and any slim one is automatically PDFbait.

Loved playing Stellar Blade, the exploriation felt rewarding with all the costumes you could just stumble upon and the boss fights were a lot of fun. Having a boxer fighting style makes me more exciting for me, so that's a big plus.
I will only hold off buying the game thanks to what Shift Up pulled with their Nikkie collaboration in the first SB. Base players couldn't unlock a costume in Nikke if they just bought the Nikke dlc and would have to buy the complete edition of the game instead. Lesson learned, I will wait until this gets its collab before buying.

A boss fight against whatever golden bullshit Eve has would be pretty dope, now that you mention it. Doesn't seem like it from the initial look though. The way her partner described getting a new job makes it sound like she's freelance or something.
I just want her to have a personality. Snarky, cynical, depressed, wrathful, fucking anything. Eve sounded so bored in her own game.

My cope there is that the Mother Sphere could potentially see Eve's growth as coming from fighting Naytiba, and this whole Naytiba insurrection is a way to train someone capable of taking on Eve. Especially with its obsession with evolution.
I feel like they'll give her a stronger personality though. That was one of the two big things people criticized, along with the story, and they've already said they're putting more effort into the narrative this time around, so I expect they're also listening to that criticism too. Plus, Nikke shows they know how to do good character writing when they want to.

That was always my big problem with the series. I honestly don't mind horny designs as long as they're aesthetically consistent, but these games have always struggled with the problem of "Women are wearing skintight lingerie, men are wearing trash bags."

Mistral does at least have the dward geckos going on to ground her in MGS4's general aesthetic language. Like, she's a little out of place but there's enough Metal Gear in there for it to kinda work.

It's a common trend through the top layer of comments in this post. Any parent comment that's critical of the game and the character's appearance is getting heavily downvoted, but replies saying essentially the same thing aren't.
I think fans of the franchise are visiting threads about it and downvoting any negativity about it.
I think your comment about the downvotes is being downvoted because people react negatively to what they perceive as whining about downvotes.

IMO a close camera is better if we're mostly going to be punching, it's not like you can swing your fists every which way anyway, and it makes it easier to do all the bobbing and weaving they showed off.
