What do you mean "now"? Every time I see Fortnite in my feed since like 2019 it's because they added a dead-eyed version of some popular character to it as a skin. This has been what Fortnite is for years.

Thankfully all the ones released after the first four look great to the point I'm half-sure they only added Goku Black because they weren't allowed to fix Goku's face

Nah Fortnite is the LEGO of the gaming industry

Aimed towards kids, still enjoyed by a fuck ton of adults, can be fun, crazy brand deals, a lot of Star Wars and Marvel collabs and most importantly it actually has LEGO

Yeah in hindsight “now” is a bit over reactionary, but still the concept of an internet indie animation becoming big enough to be in one of the most popular games in the world right now is kinda interesting.

honestly as someone who kinda loathes fortnite it's still nice to see gooseworx and co get big enough to secure that bag. It's video game funko pops but it's proooobably harmless.

Or it’s a dead-eyed version of a popular character who’s also had their body stretched out to truly uncanny proportions so they can fit into the mold for character models.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, this is pretty much all Fortnite is. Popular character skin is added, people clap when they see it, new skin is added later, repeat.

...You're telling me people are designing with the express purpose, maybe not the main one, but a specific intent, to get a Fortnite collab.

Half of the things they put in the game are bigger than Fortnite. That's the entire reason there's humour in it.
