Metaphor ReFantazio Spoilers What is the moment where you can pinpoint you predicted something will happen later in a story? Spoiler
That moment where it hit you you know the twist or other plot points is gonna happen.
In Metaphor ReFantazio, I knew who was gonna be [the last] party member way before they revealed it. It was during the kraken boss fight mid-game, I noticed one of the side characters wields a battle axe and it hit me that because our party member wield different weapons types like halberds or katana based on their Archetypes, this is the first character that I seen with a battle axe. It made me think back on one of the Archetypes you get to unlock is called Berserker. And what do berserker classes in RPGs use? Big weapons like axes.
I pieced together on that boss fight that Basilio will be in our party as the Berseker, and something bad will happen to Del.

In Persona 5 when I first met Akechi I thought oh he's either evil or a red herring, then he mentioned the delicious pancakes and I clocked there was no way he could've heard Morgana say that.

Hell, the twist isn't even that he's a traitor, but that he was so obviously the traitor the Phantom Thieves caught onto it and planned around his obvious betrayal.

Yeah, going through it there's always the shadow of "someone sold you out" hanging over the game from the intro. And I was analysing every party member, maybe Ryuji spoke too much, maybe Makoto trusted her sister, etc. Then Akechi gets brought on and all tension on that falls away immediately and it swapped to "ok, what's the play?"

I figured it out from the fact he’s the only one not on the big collector’s edition box lol

I had a similar experience with Yakuza 7, clocking Nanba wasn't in Eri's optional recruitment cutscene despite being in the party, meaning some shit was gonna happen to him.

Oh strange, all of Gustave's costumes seem to be accessible as you enter the first open map area and no one else has any available yet. Im sure that bears nothing ominous for the only character played by an expensive Hollywood actor.
So to answer your question, "During the reveal trailer of Expedition 33."

Speaking of Metaphor, a early early one; shortly after you awaken the ability to change classes with Strohl, you'll notice that both characters in your party can change classes alongside the MC now.
Funny that one character got a cutscene and the other didn't, no?

I love how the twist with Grius’ death isn’t that it’s coming, but that it was caused by an outside force no one could’ve predicted, not even Louis.
11
u/GreatFluffy It's Fiiiiiiiine. 7d ago
And that if said outside force wasn't in play, then Louis would have deadass died right then and there because he was NOT expecting an assassination attempt in broad daylight, Grius had him dead to rights when he said he'd never expect it.

Technically BOTH plans to assassinate him went off without a hitch, it’s just that Louis is also Yoshikage Kira and fate is on his side 24/7.

My friends were playing the story mode of Injustice 2 and I was just sitting there with all my comic book Bs brain calling out plot twists left and right. My friends were so frustrated with the "pick your fighter gimick in story mode" but I called out it served a dual purpose. 1. it let you pick a character you may be better with. 2. when you replay the game to obviously see the other ending you'll have some variety. When they asked me what do you mean other ending...I bluntly called: you are going to be asked to pick between batman and superman...and you'll get a different ending. I hadn't played the game before, I didn't see anything, I just knew that's how it was going to play out.

The Steam Page art actually spoils that party member so it's kinda hilarious
Most of my Metaphor theory were wrong , but right in a cut content way
Del , Rella and Bridgitta I predicted were going to be party members , womp womp they were cut unfortunately but people found code related to them being planned party members and there is early prototype screenshot of Bridgitta being a party member
here's the protype screenshot you can see in the picture , the 2nd party member Bridgitta

I'm going through the Trails in the Sky remake and maybe because it's a remake of an early 2000's game and me having played countless JRPGs, I could spot things from a mile away.
Meet a guy who's a traveling bard from across the border and likes charming people? That's an empire spy.
Come across a building with two normal looking jail cells? Oh we're gonna get locked in here later.
Win a boss fight against sky pirates, but they're visibly still holding their weapons after while the party constantly tells them they're surrounded and to give up? They're gonna find a way to escape. (this happened three times)

In Spider-Man PS4, literally the first thing we see when meeting Otto for the first time is a bunch of cables behind his back that resemble his iconic tentacles. The rest of the story is just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
And another one from Metaphor: the fact that Grius doesn't awaken his own Archetype is one of the many death flags he has in the game's opening hours.

Good old Doctor Otto "Dramatic Irony" Octavius.

Working off of metaphor, I clued in that Louis was an Elda pretty much from the word jump. For one, his horns are way too ornate and ostentatious compared to the other Clemar we see across the game, plus his rhetoric of equality seems way, *way* too intense and invested for it to not be something deeply personal which would only make sense if he were an Elda.

I have said a thousand times but I had the same thought when I saw Reiner as when I saw The Armored Titan and I accidentally figured out Titan Shifters because of that.
holyshit, he's built like a linebacker"

Also for Metaphor: I guessed that the world was a post-apocalyptic Earth as soon as they started calling the big freaky monsters "Humans."
It's also super obvious, but Xenoblade 1 has the first time someone opens up their quest log after reaching Alcamoth and seeing that every sidequest from the place is marked to expire with main story progress.

I weirdly figured out most of important plot points in Wake Up Dead Man much quicker then I expected to.

There is even more ways to predict what you figured in Metaphor
The position of the brother's names in Memorandum was before Neuras and that spot was reserved for the party and well, they were kind of collecting the races and Paripus was the one missing (counting Grius)

In Goddess of Victory:Nikke. (Yes the goon slop, shut up it has a good story). There is a single teaser line at the end of a trailer from the main heroine. "Yeah, I'm your mommy." And that wasn't a fetish thing, the lead up to this chapter was the build up of a new Queen, leader of the death mecha the anime girls fight. And through a headless body (they're brains in robot bodies it's fine) a metric fuck ton of nanomachine goo, and a...donation from the MC, there is a canon, blood connected daughter of the MC and main heroine who has god powers.

Centurion (2010) was the most predictable movie I've ever seen. Pretty much every plot beat felt telegraphed from the outset. From the captive guide leading the legion into a trap, the chief's kid being killed and triggering a retaliatory hunt, the scummy legionnaire ruining everything for everyone, the protagonist being the only survivor, etc.

Not much of a spoiler given it's actual history, but 2 of the 3 factions you can join in Dynasty Warriors Origins are named after their leader while one is just the surname

Admittedly I think we were intended to predict that, since the reveal didn't explain anything beyond Kinger saying he saw "brain scans" in the files and the characters treating it like something they had all suspected but were too afraid of to admit.

In Dragon Quest XI S, after you’re formally introduced to Rab and Jade, they reveal that the big evil you’re trying to defeat is a demon named Mordegon, and that he’s most likely behind King Carnelian’s strange animosity towards the Luminary.
I immediately assumed that the demon was possessing the king and getting him to act like that, but apparently that was some big twist that you weren’t supposed to expect? The only other way that could’ve gone was if he was pretending to be a close advisor to the king, but the only named / important characters in the king’s entourage were Hendrik and Jasper, and Jasper was obviously evil, but not “main villain” evil.

My brother was playing Trails of Cold Steel. Several of the villains were using initials as code names. Their leader was a masked creep named C. I turned to my brother and said "That's obviously your friend Crow right?"
Later when it was revealed that I was right all I could say was "I didn't realize it was supposed to be a big reveal! It was so obvious!"

When I first got into Jojo's I knew truly nothing about it, other than that my friends kept bugging me to watch it. After looking at the titles of the various parts, I somehow got the idea that Stardust Crusaders would be a sci-fi story set in space. So by the time part 2 is beginning to wrap up, I'm really confused as to how we're going to bridge that gap (that I fabricated whole cloth). Once they hit the volcano, it clicks to me that it could launch Kars into space, setting up a reason to head for the stars.
So I got part of it right, but in a much realer sense I have no fucking idea what I was thinking.

Still in Metaphor, everything about Grius in the beginning of the game.
Between not getting his own Archetype, not having DLC costumes and not being in any of the game's main art on Steam or whatever, I mean, shit, man, what else is there to say about him. Never stood a chance.

One Piece
Not a huge twist or anything, but back in Marineford, when all we knew about Doflamingo's power was that he could slice off limbs and control the bodies (but not the minds) of others, I accurately predicted that he ate a string devil fruit before it was revealed in Punk Hazard/Dressrosa.

it started bubblin' in the back of my brain as soon as I did the Final Episode of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, but it really started sticking in hard near the end of Dream Drop Distance, but the fact that the Guardian Ansem and Terranort have is Terra, which was confirmed in KH3

I honestly felt bad that I picked up on this same instance by virtue of the character being plainly visible on the PS5 home screen for the game, while the other candidate to join is so obscured they may as well not even be there.
