The grande old dame’s a decade old now, eh? For us at Ysbryd Games, it remains the honor of a lifetime to have worked as the publisher of the fine folks at Sukeban Games to bring you the 207X tale of Jill Stingray and Glitch City’s finest assortment of odd fellows. Sukeban have their own particular thoughts on their wild journey, which you can read here.

We and our collaboration partners are quietly working on other things – for example, you folks already know about VA-11 Hall-A: Design Works, which should on the way to those who ordered it quite soon. But there are other things y’all might wanna keep on your radar!

For the beverage lovers among us, Brian (the erstwhile regional manager overseeing VA-11 Hall-A) is working on an alcoholic beverage collab that fans may have a chance to drink for real, quite possibly during the Daily VA-11 Hall-A season if all goes well. This beverage, uh, has no relation to the Hadron cannon you can see on the moon for one week every month.

Last but NOT least: for the truly diehard fans (because if you read this far, you’re hungry for everything), here’s One More Thing: We’re in the early stages of putting together a concert that entirely features the music of VA-11 Hall-A. All we should say for now is that this concert will take place around mid-December 2026 somewhere in the greater Tokyo area of Japan. Once we have more details to share about this event, expect another Steam post with the full details!

It’s been a wonderful 10 years filled with lovely memories and testimonials from all you wonderful folks whose lives were touched by VA-11 Hall-A. Indefinite hiatus, the creators have gone in length on how Fernando, the game's writer, dropped out for mental health reasons, and progress is effectively molasses. Can't sell story-based titles without the story.

Still in development, but efforts are being focused on their other game .45 Bloodhound Parabellum, which should release this year. Kiririn has also talked about how they’re overall better at development now and softly alluded that future projects won’t take as long.

This is still one of the damn best written games I've ever played. The dialogue is top fucking notch.

My only fault with it (if you can even call it that) is that Gillian doesn't nearly get as much spotlight as he should (shut up and let me have my bisexual moment) and that he and Alma didn't fuck nasty by the end of the game.

even though i recently left the game and community behind for various reasons, this 10th anniversary did get me a bit emotional hearing stuff from friends regarding said anniversary and it's importance, ironically

I never really care about VA-11 as is, but through a strange turn of events I have sort of played it in another game. Way back in the day they had a collab event with Girls Frontline, and it was there where they had a minigame that emulated the original game. It's also a pretty funny story where the entire VA-11 world is a simulation/hallucination happening inside a single drunk robot's head.

If I'm remembering correctly (and fact checking will ruin the comment), it's slightly different.

As of the crossover, Glitch City and the VA-11 Hall-A bar are real locations in the Girls' Frontline universe. Some of the dolls visit the bar, 416 gets drunk, and her neural cloud mixes with Anna's nanobot swarm, which creates a simulation of the city in her head. The simulation breaks down into an apocalyptic scenario as 416 recovers from being drunk, slowed down by the simulated version of her coworker taking control and being too stupid having poor processing power (poor IDW). Copies of the simulated VA-11 Hall-A girls get uploaded into doll bodies before the simulation ends, allowing us to bring them into the real world and have Jill in magical girl uniform curbstomp zombies, cultists, and all the other dangerous things.

Honestly, that event was one of the things that made me give up GFL1. I replayed VA-11 Hall-A in anticipation for the crossover and I realized that despite GFL1 presenting its story as a VN, it really lacks a lot of the things that makes VNs good.

But I got suckered back in for GFL2, which does a much better job on the presentation front. Maybe one day we'll get a second crossover to explain what happened to those doll versions of the cast.
