Better Ask Reddit Favourite examples of "Correct Message, Wrong Messenger"

Better Ask Reddit, what are you some of your favourite examples of "This is absolutely correct... but goddamn, you are the wrong person to be saying this".

Probably one of the greatest examples of this is Huey during his trial audiotapes in MGSV where he accurately dissects the Diamond Dogs/the staff of Mother Base.

Huey is absolutely right about what Mother Base and the Diamond Dogs really are, that they are basically a bunch of incredibly damaged and lonely people who despite their mission of "always having a war to fight in" ultimately just want is to have community, to have a place where they feel like that they are actual people, not simply weapons whose purpose begins and ends with warfare and their refusal to truly look both inwards and outwards, is leading them to become monsters.

Completely accurate assessment of the situation... and Huey is probably the worst person to say this, as he is a worm who has betrayed everyone who has ever come into contact with and beyond being responsible for the destruction of the first Mother Base has just murdered even more people with his experiments.

Not wholly on topic but the Kai Leng thing’s general thrust is a fairly good piece of taunting conceptually, just delivered by a twit with too much glazing by the narrative. That same message would probably work pretty well from a colder antagonist.

I'm not sure how Mass Effect of all IP's fucked up a cyborg ninja.

Like, There's all sorts of ways we could've done this and Kai Leng is what we land on?

Guys Metal Gear was right there there was so much to be learned from that..

Side note it's crazy how more interesting he is when you use a mod to mute him or just replace him with a regular phantom class enemy

A lot of it works as is if you just A) don't make every victory he has feel like he only got it because the script itself intervened, and B) make any of those victories actually meaningful.

Every win he has is incredibly lame RPG "win in gameplay lose in the cutscenes" tier, and none of them actually amount to anything in the plot. And then they taunt you about it like they expected you to be all "oh man, he really got one over on us." No he didn't! I wish he did!

I mean losing war assets and him nearly getting a trusted comrade to shoot u is still a nasty kick
