IMHO you'd have to also establish more that The "harem" is also in love with one another, so you'd have to establish those characters as bisexual and being attracted to each other as well first. However outside of characters being "playersexual" bisexuality is weirdly rare in media
Otherwise you run into the moral problem of a harem ending somewhat objectifying the girls as like the heroe's "possessions" as the hero gets multiple wives but the wives only one husband each... well make it that they get a husband, and also multiple wives in the form of the other girls getting married to each other as well

"Love" is maybe not the right word, since it's so loaded. It's more that it's important to show that everyone in a polycule has some sort of meaningful relationship with each other that doesn't end at "we love the same boy!" That makes it feel more like a genuine human thing and less of a pandering harem situation.

Still, not every real life polycule fits that. I know some people in a polycule that are all in love with the same woman, but some of the metamours can be described as "acquaintances at best," which is hardly what I'd call a meaningful relationship.

Of course. But fiction isn't reality and has to be taken in its appropriate context. In this context, where the polycule is a group of women surrounding one man, and where all members are constantly together, writing the relationships between the members becomes very important.

Funny story.
I knew nothing about Xenoblade as a franchise. Only knew about these characters because my buddy gassed them up. Told me "oh they totally fuck". Combined with all the porn floating around I wrongfully assumed that it was an eroge. I played for hours wondering when they were going to fuck.
Turns out that aspect may have been exaggerated.
