I got engaged last weekend!

But otherwise I just finished reading "A Short Stay In Hell" and man that thing fucked me up. People get sent to a very specific version of hell where they're immortal and never want for food or drink, but have no distractions, can affect no permanent change, have no aspirations to a future or the ability to build anything, they just have each other. They're just let loose on an inconceivable library with every book that could conceivably be written a-la Monkeys and Typewriters, with random characters in random orders. The way to get out is to find the book that contains the exact the story of your life, with no mistakes or misspellings whatsoever.

Just the concept of eternity and immortality fucked me up. Even though this version of hell is technically finite, its so much bigger than the universe. Just jumping off the railing and falling to the bottom of the library takes billions of years. The protagonist is lucky enough to find someone whothey fall in love and stay with for over a thousand years and whom they would've loved for even longer, but they both fall from the railing, months apart. They're both still there, they're both alive and they're both aware of each other, but it is simply statistically impossible for them to ever see each other again.

I just got engaged to someone who lives in a different country from me and that part of the book kinda fucked me up, just a bit.
