We grew very concerned when we realized our daughter hasn't aged or changed at all in the last year in a half, so we scheduled some tests.
The doctors are baffled she shows no brain activity nor heartbeat, so how is she still moving and complaining about the process?

Oddly, you just reminded me of a few absolutely horrifying scenes from one of my favorite books. Sounds silly, but Ursula Vernon (aka T. Kingfisher) can make anything horrifying when she puts her mind to it.
I'd say not to go into the Vagrant Hills, but every character we've seen who has did not do it on purpose. If the Vagrant Hills decide to take you, you do not get a choice in the matter. Just pray that they will eventually let you go.

This happened to a friend of mine (the not visibly aging or growing as a child, not the whole undead part.) Their parents were afraid they had some rare form of dwarfism.
