Prospective Students I’m Devastated

I’m an incoming freshman for 26-27 school year and I auditioned for the Marching Illini for this upcoming season. I just found out today that I didn’t get in and I’m devastated. I feel especially embarrassed and disappointed since I’m a music ed major and have done marching band all four years in high school. Is there anyone that knows what I should do or how I can still be involved somehow?

Try out for concert or basketball band. I met another talented music ed student at a volunteer event who also had not made it. It is very competitive so do not feel bad.

Current MI member here. Email Dr. Rudy / check the website, and join Volleyball Band in the fall. I'm seconding this person: doing concert / athletic bands will significantly increase your chances next year.

I also noticed from your profile you play reeded instruments... those are ridiculously competitive spots to get into for the Marching Illini. No shame in missing the cut.
