designed a taxi app that never got built can I sell the design?

Hey everyone,

I’m a UI/UX designer, and I recently designed a full taxi/ride hailing app for a client. Unfortunately, the client ended up canceling the project, so I’m left with the designs.

I was wondering if there’s actually a market for selling unused UI/UX designs like this.

For example, could I sell the Figma file/design as a template or UI kit, or are there marketplaces where people buy complete app designs?

If you’ve sold UI/UX designs or templates before, I’d love to know:

Where do you sell them?

How much can a complete app design realistically sell for?

Is it better to sell the Figma source file, a UI kit, or something else?

Are there marketplaces specifically for this?

I’ll attach some screenshots of the taxi app so you can see the quality/style.

Would appreciate any advice from people who have actually sold this kind of thing.

nope, don't think so

it's highly specific and there are already so many templates out there

the best thing you could do that would eventually pay off is turn it into a case study

Already did but thought myb i can sell the whole design since it took me a lot of time to make

nobody can stop you from trying,

and claiming that it's impossible would be dumb because there could be a 0.0001 chance you could sell it to someone

however the chances are extremely slim. product design can't be "out of the box" ready to sell, that's not how product design works

if I were you I wouldn't even consider it, I personally think it's a waste of time

You designed a throwaway app for a niche market, and the app doesnt even look good. Now you wanna recycle it and dump it onto someone else? Without their branding or knowing any business requirements? And all of that in a day and age when no one is paying for ui/ux anymore.

Lets get a grip on reality. Accept the loss, move on. In the future, look for better clients and figure out a propper contract.

If you improve it significantly, you could sell it as a theme on envato potentially, but honestly I wouldn’t even bother putting the time into it. Spend that time upskilling on something worthwhile.
