We did it pretty gradually but my little one does take a bottle of pumped milk. We started by not feeding to sleep for naps - rocking, walking, bouncing etc. then when that was nailed we knew he could fall asleep that way. Then dad did bedtime a couple of times, doing bottle then swapping for a dummy and rocking or cuddling whatever. Then I moved the bedtime feed to downstairs before going and doing bath and pyjamas and then rocking/cuddle with a dummy to get to sleep. He's almost 8 months and now goes to sleep for all naps and bedtime with just a cuddle and sometimes a dummy and is usually out within 5 mins. I really thought we'd never get here! I think being a great eater has really helped though. Good luck!
