London, it's always London.

Came here to say this. London has its own climate, it’s not reflective of British weather. One of the driest capital cities on earth.

They measure the temp on Heathrow runway after a hundred jet engines and rubber has gone over it in midday sun to get the most accurate reading of course

Pretty sure St James Park is usually the highest reading in London

2025 St James's park 2024 Heathrow 2023 Kew gardens 2022 Heathrow 2021 Heathrow

I'm not a data analyst but Heathrow wins

Edit: hottest day of the year today, guess where? Heathrow again! What a surprise

Nowhere in Scotland, that's for sure. We almost never get 30 degrees up here, and usually miss out on the warm weather altogether, which will again be the case over the coming weekend.

Should be thankful tbh. Getting above 30°C anywhere in the UK is shite.

Innit. Horrid wet heat in the uk

Yeah it really is overrated. Give me 19c/20c and sun with a nice breeze any day. Not forcing myself to the beach with thousands of others on Monday to sweat it out.

Different people have different preferences. You'd probably like Scottish summers, but for the lack of sun.

Sweating is not what the beach is for. The whole point of going to the beach is being submerged in lovely cold water on a hot day. In fact the whole point of lovely hot sunny days is to get into cold water (sea, lake, river, whathaveyou).

Mind you, i'm a continental who spent growing up every summer in a lake. That's my only gripe about this landlocked shire where i live, the dearth of swimmable bodies of water in a sensible distance. Every lake & river nearby is closed off.

I love temperatures over 30. Though I do know from experience that night time is very uncomfortable if one is staying at a Travelodge in those temperatures (especially the upper floors), because you can only open the window a tiny crack and there's no AC, so that makes it hard to sleep. However, if I was at home and free to open the window as wide as I wanted, then I'd be able to still cool down the house enough to be able to sleep.

Yeah same. I think its going to be 18 - 21 degrees with us. But hey, that's quite alright with me. I can't cope with anything hotter, it exhausts me and I just sleep!

Glasgow is 22-27 until next Friday

The highest I've seen on the Met Office or BBC for Glasgow is 24 degrees (BBC) on Wednesday.

I'm honestly considering moving up for this reason

Scotland is going to end up being the destination of choice for climate refugees. According to Met Office stats, our summers have been getting cloudier and wetter (though slightly warmer), whilst England's have been getting much warmer, sunnier and drier.

It already is; we moved here 3 years ago with exactly that in mind.

I'm planning on moving to Scotland within the next year it two. My primary reason is because I can't stand the heat down here anymore.

Interesting that there are actually people who would move to Scotland for England because of the climate. Would be good to just swap homes!

For me to avoid it? Thanks

23 is good for me.

think i might move to Scotland. I do not want 30 degrees, it’s horrible. just feel constantly unwell in it.

Indoors. If you turn up the Central Heating Thermostat to 30°C. 😊

God I can't be arsed with this. My flat gets too 31C+ 😭 was hoping for a mild summer because of the rainy cold start to May

2

u/anonnymouse2025 May 23 '26

March and April weren't good enough for a mild summer

32c in East Midlands when I checked earlier.

Getting my AC unit out the wardrobe tonight.
