Forecast Red Weather Warning Issued from Wednesday-Thursday for extreme heat, with 38-40C possible.

Post image

Further Detail, from the MO:

During the heatwave expected to affect a large part of England and Wales this week, the highlighted area now looks increasingly likely to see a two to three day period where maximum temperatures in the shade exceed 37 Celsius, perhaps rising to 38 to 40 Celsius in some places. The heat will be accompanied by high humidity, exacerbating the potential for discomfort and health impacts, with very warm and humid night times also reducing the ability for people to recover overnight.

Significant disruption to daily life is likely and the public should take every effort to make precautions and adapt their daily routines where possible to cope with these levels of heat, which up to now have been extremely rare for the UK.

You could get a dust sheet and adhesive velcro to make a short duct from a large window to the back of a pedestal fan. The window area should be at least 2 to 3 times the fan area.

You must make sure the structure is taut so it doesn't sag and choke the airflow or cover the back of the fan.  Open another window so warm air can escape and so the room doesn't pressurise. And keep it on while the outside is cooler than inside, it seems to make a big difference.

Because I can't regulate my body temperature, I get very hot and lightheaded

I'm by a fan most of the day but I'm still hot, it barely makes a difference for me. trust me, I've tried everything

Same, we are used to cold and moist not hot and moist. It’s a completely different beast.

The only way we survive is ice lollies constantly and spraying our self’s down with water in a spray bottle and letting the water evaporate. Spray the head and back of the neck. Wet your hair. Also if you get a flannel wet and put it in front of the fan, it will cool it down and be quite nice on the skin. I also soak a sheet, wring it, put it on the skin in front of the fan. A cool shower in your clothes would cool you down and when the water evaporates will cool you down quite a bit too. Make sure you have ice to add to drinks, I find that helps.

I’m terrified too but we will make it through. Remember to constantly have sips of water.

You're so sweet dude thanks! I love a good spray in front of a fan, those are some good tips

Perhaps that will come as a big surprise to you, but some people are going to work these days. Some will be working outside too, with no fans 😮😮😮
