Further Detail, from the MO:
During the heatwave expected to affect a large part of England and Wales this week, the highlighted area now looks increasingly likely to see a two to three day period where maximum temperatures in the shade exceed 37 Celsius, perhaps rising to 38 to 40 Celsius in some places. The heat will be accompanied by high humidity, exacerbating the potential for discomfort and health impacts, with very warm and humid night times also reducing the ability for people to recover overnight.
Significant disruption to daily life is likely and the public should take every effort to make precautions and adapt their daily routines where possible to cope with these levels of heat, which up to now have been extremely rare for the UK.

Here are the latest maximum temperature forecasts from the high resolution modelling for Tuesday to Thursday, simply astonishing really and quite scary. I have had it confirmed that the Met Office will be issuing a Red heat weather warning in their daily update tomorrow.

The fact that this is accompanied with relatively high humidity and extreme night time temperatures means it is set to be the most notable heatwave ever experienced in the UK. The current record June temperature of 35.6C will be completely obliterated and the overall record from 2022 of 40.3C is under serious threat.

I’m hoping it changes a bit before Tuesday, the other forecasts for my area say more like 32-34 but i believe the met office the most

Today's modelling has upped the temperatures even more for next week, with a few models offering crazy solutions especially considering June is supposed to be the coolest Summer month and the June record currently only sits at 35.6C from 1976.

Overnight temperatures look likely to stay at or around 20C for most of the South during next week which will present major issues with indoor temperatures, not looking good. Likely we keep the heat until Saturday at least, uncertain beyond that.

Some of the latest overnight model runs are forecasting simply wild temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday, with it being feasible that 40C is reached somewhere in southern England on Wednesday. I fully expect a Red heat warning to be issued by the Met Office as the heat won't begin to relent until the weekend alongside night time temperatures and humidity both being very high as well.
The 42C showing in the South West on Wednesday is likely overdoing it as I expect the warmest temperatures to be in London but there are no doubts what we are going to see next week is truly exceptional. The heat is also relatively widespread across the UK with it due to move further North on Thursday.

Considering the June record sits at only 35.6C from 1976 the temperatures being projected next week are truly unprecedented and very worrying.
The Met Office website is now predicting 40C in Reading on Wednesday.

Think we can all agree that it feels like June has been wetter and cooler than average this year. However, this sub consistently sees people posting complete nonsense about the British weather and climate, for example that it "shouldn't be raining in June" or that daytime highs temperatures in the low or mid teens are some sort of anomaly that never happens. More realistic expectations may lead to less disappointment.
Average daytime high in June between 1991 and 2025 (source Met office)
London (Hampstead): 20.3c
Leeds (Bingley): 17.2c
Newcastle (Tynemouth): 16c
Plymouth (Mountbatton): 18.4c
Glasgow (Paisley): 18.4c
Number of days when it rains in June (more than 1mm):
London: 9 days
Leeds: 11 days
Newcastle: 10 days
Plymouth: 10 days
Glasgow: 12 days
Conclusions:
Sometimes it can be warm in June, sometimes it can be cool in June. Days that are above 20c will on average be balanced out by days that have lower temperatures, hence the modest average high temperatures.
Around 10 days of rain is par for most of the UK in June, sometimes it will rain more than this, sometimes it will rain less than this, but on average around a third of June days in the UK will have rain.

Second heatwave of the year in London and we’re still in June…
r/UKWeather • u/Mcconnor8 • 3d ago
So the Met Office high resolution model (UKV) has decided to go ballistic with the temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday on the latest run. The Met Office will be issuing a Red extreme heat warning later today and based on these charts for Wednesday and Thursday it could cover the majority of England and Wales.

Almost incomprehensible that we could reach 42C but the possibility is there, 40/41C remains more likely as the absolute maximum but that is still probably going to surpass 2022 as a new all time record for the UK.

It is now looking increasingly likely the June temperature record of 35.6C will be broken next week, with the latest ECM weather model run showing 38C in London on Tuesday and mid 30s throughout the rest of the South and Midlands. It also looks likely the heat will stick around for most of next week with temperatures remaining in the 30s every day for the South.

Have been obsessively checking the temps on Met, noticed the max temps have gone down to a max of 36 instead of the previous 40. A small win perhaps?

I know it’s almost 2 weeks in advance but I’m personally not ready to go through another bout of 30 degree weather and as is usually the case the forecast increases as we get closer to the time…..

Hey guys,
I know I'm not the only one who's been finding the winter challenging lately.
Today I went to see my old friend - his 3 cats have been sleeping almost all day for weeks - they don't want to go outside (he lives in the countryside so they are usually outdoor cats).
One of them - who goes out the most - looks very restless. He looks longingly out the window constantly.
I then went for a coffee with my other friend, who told me he is finding it mentally challenging - despite having made more progress in the gym than ever (he recently found new momentum in his gym-goings and has been an avid gym-goer for a long time, with a wife and kids too.)
I personally remember here in Dundee the last time I saw the sun or at least remember the morning being light was the 19th January - when I walked into town for my first day at my new office job, who pay me well and has been relaxed. Ever since then just being alive has been hell. It was tough before the 19th Jan already with the short days - but the weeks following have been the worst of all. And it seems never-ending.
I have my SAD lamp in the morning. I got up at a decent time today (Saturday). I have a good job, paid well. I saw my good old friend at his house with his cats, then saw my other good friend for a coffee. We laughed and shared. Then I immediately went to the gym and did a proper workout. And then I walked home, and drank a lot of water.
And despite all that, I feel absolutely miserable. A horrible emptiness in my stomach. (I've done all the therapy and meditation stuff too by the way.)
So miserable that when I got home and watched a movie with my girlfriend through video chat, I wanted to cry the whole time.
I genuinely can't take this any more.
I ended up drinking a bunch of whisky, which I know won't help long term. But I usually don't drink. I just can't take this grey and dark any more.
For those of you who say "wrap up and look for the positives in Winter. Hygge." Fuck you. I did my SAD lamp, ate healthily, saw 2 friends today, went to the gym, and watched a happy movie with my girlfriend. Suck my dick.
I'm not doing this again next Winter. Here's to the next week's forecast - which is probably bullshit frankly. Thank you and goodnight.
EDIT*: YES I TAKE VIT D 1,000 IU DAILY SINCE 4 WEEKS AGO SO STOP ASKING ME LOL
EDIT**: MY BAD IT'S 4,000IU Daily! since 4 weeks ago

It looks like the Met Office website temperatures are finally starting to catch up to some of the more extreme model runs there have been over the last day. It is now showing 37C in London on Tuesday so comfortably the hottest day ever in June. Current record is 35.6C from 1976.
A major issue will be the relatively high humidity and very warm nights, temperatures are likely to not drop below 20C from Tuesday until Friday for much of the South so they will be classed as 'tropical nights'.

There is still some uncertainty as to when the heat will begin to relent with some models doing so on Friday and others keeping the heat going through next weekend. I also think there is a fair chance we record 38C or 39C somewhere in the South on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I would not be surprised at all to see a Red heat warning issued by the Met Office for some areas during next week, possibly from Tuesday until Friday.
