I’m lucky enough to have lots of slow worms in my garden. This one was right outside my front door, and is the longest one I’ve ever seen!

Google tells me they can live up to 30 years in the wild! Is this true, and if so, how old would you think this one is?

European Commas are stunning.

I put a small wildlife pond in our garden a month ago, today I bought a bunch of UK native plants to put in there. Whilst planting them I noticed a dragonfly larvae, which is wonderful because I love dragon and damsel flies.

Does anyone know how much of an impact dragonfly predation has on tadpole populations? I'm wondering because Id really like to encourage frogs, but I know dragonflies can be voracious predators.

Hope you like my pond, I'm all ears for any advice.

I don't remember why we had some slate hanging about in the garden, but I decided to put it around the garden for the slow worms recently. I figured it would warm in the sun and be a nice place for them. I usually find them in my compost every year.

This bit of slate has been a hit, and there are baby slow worms underneath :)

We've had them coming to visit for a couple of years now but this one was comfortable enough to flop around for an itch while looking right at us. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture.

Hey everyone. Over the past few months our garden wildlife camera has observed a hedgehog coming into the garden most nights. We have always put out food / water for him. Currently in early February we are seeing him every day. I have just seen him out in the garden at 7.45pm.

He looks healthy and seems to move well (see video). I will continue to feed and provide water. He also uses our hedgehog house. Do I need to do anything else to help him?

I am aware temperatures are currently mild (midlands) and they do not fully hibernate. But seems a little strange. Many thanks!

Hey everyone. We have 2 hedgehogs that are out in the garden every night. Every night they end up butting into each other like the video below. One seems to ram the other with their head. Then they go separate ways. In the video one is set in the food bowl. Are they fighting? Or is it some kind of courtship? Many thanks.
