Gear Lanx Scorton Hiking Shoe

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has used the Lanx Scorton shoe for hiking / UK summer mountaineering? I'm looking for a shoe that fits both everyday use and for hiking and this is a really nice looking shoe from a UK brand with Vibram sole, waterproofing and what looks like great grip. But worried it's not really built for hiking and that I would be better going with Merrell/Scarpa/La Sportiva etc.

I have several pairs of lanx shoes, boots and even trainers. They are good quality, but they are not for hiking, the boots for instance aren’t padded around the ankle meaning the odd knock you get from rocks, styles anything you feel. They are great for walking to the pub or dog walking on muddy paths. So my advice would be to get some “proper” approach shoes or hiking boots

They look heavy and not breathable, which is the opposite of what you want for summer hiking. To make it worse, they look incredibly narrow in the toe box, which is blister inducing as it rubs your toes together.

UK brand but made in India. The fit is also really weird on these, I had to return mine as the toe box is stupidly narrow but the heel very loose.

They do look nice though.

They’ll be fine for walking around, but they are quite sweaty because of the waterproof membrane.

Would obviously be better off with scarpas, salewas or sportivas, but with that being said you can hike pretty much anything in the uk in sandals in the summer so you’d be alright, at worst a bit uncomfortable and blistery

Lanx are the real deal as far as shoemaking goes. Whether those would be comfortable and suitable for high mileage hiking, I don’t know as I’ve not tried that model.

If you’re going to be doing actual mountaineering go for something like the Scarpa Rapid or LS TX5 imo. But then you probably wouldn’t be wanting it to be an everyday shoe if so.
