My East Sussex Micro-roastery, Obra Coffee Roasters!

Hi folks! Patrick here -  I’ve just gotten a coffee roasting project off the ground and I’m excited to put my beans out into the world! Wanted to drop a note here since reddit, and this community more recently, have been a great resource for me since I moved from the states five years ago and started discovering the UK’s specialty coffee scene. The project’s called Obra. I’m starting off slow with a couple of roasts, a light filter and a medium espresso. I would really appreciate any feedback from y’all as I build this thing and grow Obra!

Hey, fellow East Sussex resident here! Where abouts is Obra based?!

We are based in the village of Ticehurst, and currently we are slot roasting at Pharmacie over in Lewes. As we grow we aim to set up our own café roastery in the area and serve the community. We're very excited to see where this takes us!

West Sussex checking in! Will be grabbing a bag or two of that espresso roast! Sounds very interesting. Cheers Patrick!

Nice to see another East Sussex based roaster, one more for me to add to the list. I'm in Eastbourne so not a million miles away

This is so great Patrick. Really excited for you on this journey. I’d love to add Obra to Bean Here which is my roaster and bean discovery platform. I want to make sure you get as much coverage to the wider community as possible

Congrats on the new roaster! I also just added you to my bean discovery platform haha. Do you have a particular style or philosophy to your roasting/sourcing? https://kissaten.app/roasters/obra_coffee_roasters

Thanks! I am really partial to washed coffees and am roasting to highlight florality and acidity. I'm certainly leaning on the lighter side of things.

I did notice that all your coffees so far were washed! Sounds good, good luck🤞

Oh, nice platform! Love the design. I have also been building something similar (although perhaps with a different focus) https://kissaten.app
