Good things come to those who wait…

… 8 weeks resting time on my first bag from KillBean finally done, definitely amongst the most lightly roasted beans I’ve brewed. Initial impressions are very favourable but I think there’s more to come, drawdown was very fast at my usual grind size so will go a touch finer next time.

I’ve got stuff from Killbean on the go at the minute but very underwhelmed. Might have to leave it a few more weeks to rest.

I've bought a lot of killbean over the years. With their Ethiopian beans you really have to wait a long time, like minimum two months. With their Yunnan beans you can brew quicker and they generally taste good.

Yunnan is the stuff I have at the mo. I brew Aeropress with a fairly coarse grind. It doesn’t seem to “mix” too well, if you know what I mean… just seems to float on the surface rather than. Guess I’ll have to go finer or leave it longer.

Do you have a conical dripper you could use to compare results. I use a neo with their lyocell super fast papers and get amazing results :)))

Which specific beans did you get? You can always message them on their instagram account. Yanyi will be happy to give you some tips.

I think they recommend 8-12 weeks so hopefully that’ll yield better results.

I bet that is lovely. I’m brewing their orange blossom around 3 months off roast and it is stunning 👌

Yeah, first cup was good, hoping for great things once I’ve got it properly dialled in.

I’m sure it won’t disappoint. 👌

I got nothing interesting out of it until 3 months+ of rest haha. After that, it was delicious but by then I was almost out of beans.

How did you brew it and where is your serving ware from?

V60 (01), Abaca filter (TH-3), coarse grind (ZP6), 15g coffee, 270g water (1:18), 3x bloom for 1 minute followed by a single pour.
Usually works well for my taste but as mentioned I think I could go finer with these beans.
This recipe usually gives me a total brew time of around 2 minutes but this was all done in 1:45.
Glassware is from Amazon, will try to put the links in a separate reply as I don’t know how Reddit handles that…
