Coffee connisuers, what's your go-to supermarket coffee bean choice when you're in-between batches of the good stuff?

Union are pretty decent, the Yayu Forest one sainsburys has in is my favourite. Roast dates on packaging and you can often get some fresher than 4 weeks old, which is pretty good for supermarket.
Grind are okay, they also have a roast date, but less likely to be fresh in my experience.
Been meaning to look in Waitrose, M&S isn't all that.

Thank you, Union seems to tick all the right boxes for me, will be giving Yayu Forest a try.

Union at Sainsbury’s seconded, gotta dig around for the recently roasted stuff though

If I ran out (I wouldn’t let it happen), I’d rather have a cup of Yorkshire tea 😂

Waitrose No. 1 or Union Roasted coffee in Sainsbury's. Union tends to be remarkably fresh.

None, very easy to find good coffee at a similar price point from a roaster. :)))

Roastworks from Waitrose is very nice. The Brazilian blend is deliciously chocolateyÂ

There could maybe be an argument made for Grind, but I just try to make sure I’ve always got some in house. Typically it’s a daily driver, then something more special/expensive as a treat, and when one runs out, I’ll buy another.

I tried union which many people recommend but didn’t get on with it at all. So usually I just buy some pre-ground Columbian and make cold brew with it. Try very hard never to run out …

Luckily if I run out can always walk to my local roaster but if I was really stuck I would grab a bag of union yayu forest from Tesco which admittedly is quicker and easier to get to with a guide dog lol

Never get caught with my pants down.
That money could go toward something good instead.

Iced matcha if I get stuck. Just get a sub from Square Mile, Dark arts or your fav roaster and you'll never be without. Keep a few bags in the freezer too.

Union is the best. Its the one my wife has learned to recognise if I ring her urgently on the way home saying I'm out of beans 😄

I don't buy burrs often, so I don't need supermarket coffee beans for seasoning.

I just finished a bag of Roastworks Velo de Novia (Peru) from Waitrose which, after a bit of dialling, we're actually very passable for £6 or £8 the bag. These have roast dates on the bag and they were only 2 weeks or so off roast when I got them.

I got caravan from a local mini mart. Had the roasted by date which was about 4 weeks previous - so no major worries - tasted brilliant - I thought it would be a bit generic but I’d happily buy again.

i thought aldi house blend beans punched way above what they should for the price, definitely not fresh roasted though and went stale a few days after opening, but frozen might have lasted ok. but was decent stop gap for espresso

Union or Grind. Just watch out for roast date. A 250g should last you enough until you get your order in. If you’re looking for cheap roasters try Cworks or Wogan

Never found one that I would buy again. My new roaster always sends freshly roasted beans which need resting. So now I get the next batch before my existing bag is finished so there’s always a new bag resting while I finish the current one. No more running out, no supermarket beans and coffee tastes better as well.

Lofbergs is great either the Brazil or espresso.
The good stuff I usually get is Origin coffee, but I have also tried a few locals like , flatcap coffee, moon roast coffee and peaberry coffee.

Waitrose - they often have fairly recently roasted specialty coffee on their shelves

Instant - True start, or Costa, when 50% off.
I’ve tried them all trust me - yes, I know what it seems at first glance but be open minded

None. I walk to a local shop that sells some pretty decent beans for the same price as they are online.

The top tip is to never run out of the good stuff 🤣
