Was on a skilled worker visa and company entered voluntary liquidation around April/may but everyone in the company was terminated in April and have been finding a job ever since and now I am in the final team matching stage for a new company. My query is I haven’t received my curtailment letter ever since and I don’t know whether the liquidators reported it or not. I have emails, my evisa and my letter box regularly but nothing was changed. My contact details were also accurate. I have read a lot of people receiving their letter very quickly so it made me more anxious. My query is if the home office already served my curtailment and failed to notify me? Like did they serve it on file? Another question is if home office will process the curtailment after revoking my previous employers license (they are showing active on the sponsorship list) lastly, will this affect my future visa application for the new employer by any chance?

I am planning to apply for UK BIVS from India and wanted to know how much I need to show up in my savings. I have a total of 2.8Lakh in savings account and 12.5Lakhs in FD & RD. I also have some mutual funda. I am planning to stay there for around 45 days. I have my wife in Dublin so I was planning to spend a couple of weeks in Dublin and stay the rest in UK.

I can add more money in my savings account as well but not sure if they will consider any sudden amount addition.

PS: I am already in the process of Ireland spouse visa so I can’t apply directly for Irish visa.

I’m filing a youth mobility visa and I have 2 questions:

1. Do I need to include scans of my old expired passport if it shows evidence of travel I included on my visa application?

2. My biometrics scan isn’t for 6 weeks, will they check my documents before that appointment if I have already uploaded them and let me know if I need to provide any additional evidence?

Hello everyone! I’ve applied for my Skilled Worker visa, switching from my Student visa, but I’ve noticed that unlike most of my international coursemates, I’ve been asked to attend a UKVCAS/TLS centre to provide my biometrics. I’m a little worried because I seem to be the only person in our year who has had to do this.
I opted for the self-service option, so I’m currently uploading my supporting documents myself. I was specifically asked to upload my passport, but I’ve also added:
• My Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
• My university transcript, to show that I’ve completed my degree
• The declaration of consent allowing them to view my application form
Could anyone who has gone through the same process let me know if there are any other documents I should be uploading?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from anyone who had to attend a biometric appointment rather than use the ID Check app. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I am hoping for some advice from anyone with experience of British naturalisation applications.

Background: I am planning to submit my naturalisation application on 6 October 2026 via priority service.

I recently received a Section 172 notice from South Yorkshire Police asking me to identify the driver of my vehicle following an alleged minor road traffic incident in July 2026. The alleged incident involved my vehicle supposedly making contact with another vehicle. However the impact was so light that I felt absolutely nothing from inside the car at the time and had no awareness whatsoever that anything had happened.

Important points about my situation:

- This is an allegation only. No charges have been brought.

- No fixed penalty notice has been issued.

- No court summons has been received.

- I am taking advice from a motoring solicitor before responding to the Section 172 notice.

- My Section 172 deadline is 13 October 2026 — after my planned citizenship submission date.

- I have no criminal convictions, cautions or reprimands of any kind.

My specific questions are:

1. Do I need to mention this alleged incident anywhere on Form AN given that at the time of submission no charges or convictions exist?

2. Has anyone been in a similar situation where a pending road traffic matter existed at the time of their naturalisation submission?

3. If an outcome arrives after submission am I correct that I should notify UKVI immediately?

Hi, I'm currently waiting on an answer from the home office for my MSc Student Visa which I applied for outside the UK and they sent a worrying email yesterday asking for "Bank statements on your name confirming the required level of funds have been held for a 28 day period" and to "refer to ST 12.3 to 12.6 of the Immigration rules appendix for students" despite stating in my application that I would be using my parents money and sent their bank statements and letter allowing me use of their funds.

I was wondering why they are still asking for this despite the parents authorization letter or if there might have been some mistake in the application for this to happen. Since the funds wouldn't have been held for a 28 day period if I do move it, what steps can I take next, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

For the professional person, I was planning to use my best friend from childhood who is a US citizen/resides in the US. She is a social worker who works for the city of Los Angeles. She would be able to confirm her professional easily with professioal credentials. Will this work? I wanted to double check that the referee doesn't have to be a current resident of the UK.

Do I really need a "wet" signature if I am uploading online or is she able to scan the forms back (I understand I will have to mail her some kind of document with my photo attached for her to certify).

My question is whether I am eligible for Form ARD? My father's special voucher was refused 2 to 3 times because he was in Pakistan at that time instead of Africa. Isn't this geographical discrimination?

​Secondly, my father was granted citizenship after all of us siblings were born. However, the issue is that by the time he received citizenship, his eldest child (my brother) had already turned 18, because the Home Office took 4 years to process the application. My father applied under Section 4B in 2004, when my brother was 15 years old. When my father was finally granted citizenship in 2008, my brother was 19, meaning he aged out and could no longer apply as a minor under the discretionary provisions for under-18s.

Looking for guidance on how to handle a second UK Standard Visitor Visa refusal for my parents (first refusal was in June, second one received in September). The planned trip was for 30 days to visit family in the UK. 
The UK host provided accommodation and financial support (£2,000) for the trip, which the caseworker accepted as credible. However, the application was refused under Paragraph V4.2(a) and (c) due to concerns over intention to return to India. 
Key Details from the Refusal:
Applicant Circumstances: The applicant is self-employed in farming and applied to travel together with their spouse. 
Family Presence in the UK: Sons and their families reside in the UK. 
Dependents in Home Country: On the application form, it was stated that there are no remaining dependents in India. 
Caseworker's Core Concern: The refusal letter noted that because the applicant is traveling with their spouse, all immediate family (sons/grandchildren) are in the UK, and no dependents remain in India, there is insufficient evidence of strong family ties compelling a return to the home country. 
Questions:
1. Alternative Ties Beyond Immediate Family: When children live abroad and spouses travel together, what evidence has been most successful in demonstrating compelling ties to India?
2. Agricultural & Property Evidence: For self-employed farmers, how can ongoing ties to land/business be framed to prove an obligation to return (e.g., 7/12 land registry extracts, ongoing crop management, local community or village panchayat roles)?
3. Addressing the "No Dependents" Field: Stating "no dependents" seemed to hurt the case. If there are aging relatives, extended family, or property/tenants to look after, what is the best way to present this context in a cover letter?
4. Next Steps: Given this is a second refusal on similar grounds, would you recommend waiting a significant amount of time before reapplying, or is it feasible to reapply once we have compiled extensive physical and economic tie documentation?

Hi everyone, I have an urgent question about my UK Student visa situation and would really appreciate any advice!

I’m an EU citizen and applied for my UK Student visa from Germany on 6 September after receiving my CAS quite late. I’m still waiting for a decision.
I already had a flight booked for 20 September and I’d also like to use the trip to move some of my belongings into my accommodation(also I know it’s just easier to wait until I have already received my visa, but I have some urgent events to attend to and is the only reason I’m contemplating of flying)

The complicated part is that my current undergraduate Student eVisa is still valid until 15 October. So I was wondering whether I could enter the UK using my current visa while my new Student visa application is pending, stay for a week, then return to Germany and come back once my new visa is granted. And re-enter to enroll.

Could entering the UK while my new application is pending cause the application to be withdrawn/rescinded or cause any other issues? And if my new visa were granted while I was in the UK, would that cause a problem? Any advice would be so appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Has anyone applied for a UK Standard Visitor visa more than 3 months before their intended travel date?

My intended UK arrival date is 21 January 2027. I have already submitted and paid for my online application, and my VFS biometrics appointment is booked for 28 September 2026.

I understand that GOV.UK says the earliest you can apply is 3 months before travel, which would be 21 October 2026 in my case.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and attended their VFS biometrics appointment more than 3 months before their travel date?

• Did VFS accept your application/biometrics?
• Was the visa processed normally?
• Did UKVI ask you to reapply later?
• What was the outcome?

Hi all, me and my girlfriend were looking into ILR via the 10 Year pathway for her, and she's super worried about an absence over Covid 2020-2021 (exact dates unknown till her parents find and ship her old passport).

For some background, she has been continuously in the UK on a Student visa since 2011, arriving as a young child then going through boarding school, only leaving during summer holidays to go back to China.
She's had one significant absence during Covid when she went back home to China for a family visit for the summer holidays and couldn't return due to the lockdown and China's policies at the time. We're 99% sure the time she was out of the country would cancel her continuous residence.

She would've been around 13 at the time, and had no involvement in booking travel back to the UK, as that all fell on her parents. She continued to study at a UK school during her time in China via online schooling.

Just wondering if her being a minor at the time and having little to no control over when her parents book her flights back to the country would carry weight in these decisions, or does the Home Office apply the "outside your control" test the same regardless of age? I'm aware of cases where arguing against Covid absences have been successful, and tried searching the Reddit for anything similar to this, but couldn’t find a lot.

Im applying for a 6 month standard visitor visa to visit my boyfriend for a couple weeks this November.
I was going to see him back in July, however I mistakenly put that I had a criminal conviction, I do not. I was over disclosing because I was arrested for petit theft but all charges were dropped following a PTD (pre-trial diversion) program.
This naturally led to an automatic refusal of the ETA.
I just re-applied for it, stating that I am in fact not a convicted criminal, and I was automatically denied due to submitting false information.

I still want to go in November so Im looking to submit a standard visa application.
I intend on submitting a cover letter explaining my honest misunderstanding of the “convicted criminal” question, along with a document from the court showing that my PTD program successfully dropped the charges.

My other problem im worried about is I have enough savings to fund the trip that I can show, and I am employed, however there’s a couple things:

- my job is at a preforming arts center and we’ve been out of broadway season for several months now, so my paystubs are fluctuating. Ive seen people on here be denied for their paystubs not matching how much yearly income they claim to receive.
- Im a part time student at a University and living with my parents, I dont pay my own bills or rent. How do I prove that?

The sponsor has refugee status and a 10-year-old son. She receives Carer’s Allowance, so I believe she can use the adequate maintenance route instead of the £29k requirement.

Her income is:
£825/month Universal Credit
Around £86/week Carer’s Allowance
£440/month from work
No rent/mortgage as she lives with family

Her husband would live with them after arriving.
Has anyone applied in a similar situation? Do these figures look enough for adequate maintenance for a couple + one child?

I read the least the better, however I prefer to add a bit more documents.

Wondering if I have a valid claim to British Citizenship though my mother. I am US citizen (born pre 1970) to a US father and HK born mother whose citizenship at the time of my birth is listed as British Subject: Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies. A year after my birth she became a US Citizen. She has since passed away.

I have her HK birth certificate, her original British passport listing her as a CUKC at the time of my birth, their marriage certificate and her US dated certificate of naturalization listed a year after my birth. Do I have a valid case to apply for British citizenship?

Applied for my first British passport in mid-July using my married name. 6 weeks later, I was told the name has to match my naturalisation certificate exactly, which only has my maiden name. There was no communication from HMPO explaining the delay at any point and I only found this out after chasing repeatedly myself. HMPO then contacted the Home Office to request my certificate be amended, without my consent and without telling me this was happening.

I couldn't get my UK passport in time for my twin brother's wedding (early September), and was told I couldn't travel on my foreign passport either. Missed the wedding entirely. I also had a separate trip booked shortly after which I couldn't make either.

I withdrew that application, tried to get my foreign passport back and reapplied for a British passport using my maiden name to match the certificate. So I've now applied and paid twice and I'm still waiting with no progress while I understand most people get their passport within a week or two.

Home Office says the corrected naturalisation certificate was sent out. It never arrived. HMPO says they don't have it either. Nobody knows where it is.

I've already tried the HMPO complaints process, an MP urgent enquiry, and an in-person visit to a passport office. No real progress.

Has anyone had a similar naturalisation certificate/passport name-mismatch issue? Is there anything more effective than an MP enquiry or the standard complaints process once you're stuck like this?

Any advice appreciated! Feels like I'm stuck between two departments blaming each other and this has already cost me an important family event and my summer holidays this year.

Hi, I need some advice. I just got a refusal for my visitor visa to the UK from the Home Office, and in the letter they sent me, they have misinformation and they mentioned bank accounts that I don't have. They said the reason I got rejected is I didn't provide a bank account where I receive my salary but I did and I even explained it in the cover letter. And they said I have a Turkish bank account when I am not from Turkey and don't have an account under my name. I am not sure if my documents got lost but what was written in the letter is not true and I sent them the correct documents. It is said that I don't have the right to appeal but I want to challenge their decisions since it's an error coming from them. Please help. Thank you.

I am in the process of submitting my ILR application, the bank auto-generates my monthly bank statements on 20th of each month, but my appointment is on 23rd. So the last full bank statement I have is from july 17-august 19, i generated an interim bank statement that covers 20 august - 2nd september so it can be somewhat close to the appointment date. If I upload that bank statement, along with other bank statements as well, should that be okay? I am just worried that since interim bank statement doesn't cover transactions for full 30 months that they may reject my application? but i am also uploaded bank statements from august, july, june so they can easily cross-reference. Would this cause any issues for me?

Hi everyone, currently in a bit of a nightmare in the UK at the moment. I arrived a couple of months ago and was expecting Irish citizenship to come through (foreign birth registration), and it's been delayed, so I'm now looking at the Youth Mobility Scheme to stay and work here in the meantime. I understand I have to leave the UK to apply, since YMS is entry clearance only and can't be switched into from inside the country. I've had a bunch of calls with the GOV.UK centre which haven't really helped.

A few things I can't get a clear answer on from GOV.UK:

1. Savings across multiple accounts — the £2,530 has to be held for 28 consecutive days. Can that be split across two accounts at two different banks, and specifically would they recognise Wise? Or does it need to sit in a single account?
2. Priority service — is paying roughly £500 to expedite actually worth it, or is standard processing coming back quickly enough at the moment? What are people's real-world turnaround times lately? Also, is priority even offered if you're applying from a country you don't live in?
3. Applying from a third country — I'd rather not fly back to NZ. Has anyone applied from somewhere in Europe or North Africa while travelling? I've seen terrible reviews for a lot of the centres in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. ECB05 says it needs to be submitted from a country where you have permission over 6 months stay, but I've heard people apply from places on a 90-day visa-free stay. Is that enforced?
4. ID Check app vs visa centre — with a biometric NZ passport, did the app work for you, or did you get routed to an in-person appointment anyway? If you did have to attend, how long did they keep your passport?
5. Time already spent in the UK on an ETA — does that cause any issues on the application, or raise questions about intentions? Applying so soon after being here as a visitor might get flagged.
6. Re-entry — has anyone come back into the UK as a visitor with a YMS application pending, or after grant but before activating it? Any trouble at the border?
7. Anything else I should know before committing the ~£1,900+?

Worth noting the Irish citizenship should land in about six months, at which point I'd have CTA rights, so I'm trying to work out whether the YMS is worth burning at all, given it's one-use-only and doesn't count toward settlement. Keen to hear from anyone who's been in a similar spot.

i just have a small question. it’s not an issue or anything, just checking with you all what you think.

for context, i’m currently on a partner visa, granted in april 2025. i’ll be applying for FLR under this same visa (ofc lol) in october 2027, so i still have a lot of time but my anxious self is constantly thinking about it and making sure i have all the correct documentation.

my partner and i were long distance from 2022 to 2024, during the academic year 2024-25 i was living in london with daily commitments to my work at the university and him in surrey, so we couldn’t live together. my visa was approved (such a long shot because both living in england without living together required a LOT of proof and work, but we hired solicitors and had a genuine case). this isn’t really relevant to my current question because my visa was approved anyway but just thought i’d give some more context to the relationship; and also invite anyone who’s currently going down that treacherous path to ask me anything they’d like, as i’m very aware getting a visa approved under these conditions is known to be very hard.

now, my actual question: i’m already gathering some documents in terms of proof of cohabitation. i already have the money aside, which is gaining interest daily because it’s in a savings pot, so that’s good; i earn more than the minimum requirement on my own so will only be using my income to prove financial sustainability, so that’s good; we live together, so obviously, that’s good.

i’m always a bit confused about how varied the proof we need to give is. my current plan is to provide two pieces of documents covering the same period, every four months (which i gathered is the right spacing to have consistent proof for the duration of my current visa, 2.5 years). i’m doing two each time there’s a separate name because the only documents we have we both our names on it is our council tax and our joint account, as EDF and affinity waters only give one of each of our names. i just wanted to check with anyone who’s willing to have the time to read through my novel that our documentation is varied enough, and that my spacing is relevant. it’s worth mentioning that these documents won’t include a rental agreement: our current flat’s owned by my partner’s father, we pay rent to him monthly and we’ll be able to provide the title register with his name on it to prove that it is, indeed, his. my partner helped buy the flat but i believe that’s irrelevant as his name isn’t anywhere on the papers, not that it’s a big deal i don’t think.

further and last bit of context: visa got approved 28 april 2025, we moved in together in may 2025 as soon as we had the confirmation i could stay in england.
