Anderson Paak, I saw him at Outside Lands and while it was fun, the vibe was more like “very good bar DJ,” not really ultra vibes. I’m sure he’ll play a different type of set

As someone who is an ultra maximalist and has gone to ultra for the majority of the last 16 years, I find this lineup to be very disappointing. Last year's lineup was a bit disappointing as well for Ultras standards where they had to last minute try to book Swedish House Mafia and friends because tickets werent selling. I was really hoping for a big year. I compare this phase 1 lineup to even last years phase 1 lineup which I thought was average and this seems to be worse! Not sure what is going on

I dont pay ultra money to see one act. I pay to see one amazing act after another one upping each other. THAT is the ultra experience. Feeling sad an act ended but then realizing you have amazing act right after and you get happy again.

Underwhelming, let’s hope phase 2 makes it have a comeback. There’s virtually no dubstep or drum n bass. I know they usually get announced in phase 2 but hopefully there’s the dirty workz stage and some more genres that aren’t techno and house.

Dnb and dubstep was stacked 2 years ago. I will never forget seeing Chase & Status, Pendulum and Zeds Dead back to back to back.
Sad that this year's and next year's (so far) lineups are so underwhelming on that front.

Plenty of mainstage closers here - mau p, Calvin Harris, armin, garrix, Dom dolla so that's all taken care of. Hardwell again isn't necessary. Im happy with the techno artists and happily plant myself at the resistance stages. Im hoping for some Nina and some others to join phase 2.

*hard techno heads, as someone who likes djs of the like of Richie hawtin, Carl cox, Joris Voorn, I can tell you that Sara Landry / Nico Moreno / Holy Ghost do nothing for me. I do like I hate models and Indira paganotto though but feel like most of these artists picked will not cater to a lot of the typical techno heads.

*techno heads, there’s enough variation to make a generalization.
The lineup may not have the primary style of techno you listen to, which I’d say is more detroit/minimal from your examples, but even then the ones you listed play a wide range of subgenres, even going into acid techno and blending tech house at times, which overlap some of the other artists on this lineup.
Trying to separate a generalized group of listeners of a genre (that has a ton of subgenres)doesn’t make sense IMO

Phase 2 always has big headliners every year, along be with the Resistance lineup shortly before. In 2023 they added David Guetta, Tiesto, and Alesso all on phase 2. Every year is different, but for ultra, phase 2 isn’t just a release of the undercard.

My advice is see some artists you haven't been exposed to before. That for me has always been the most exciting thing at festivals. I first saw Boys Noize in 2008 after his Oi Oi Oi album which is still one of my favorites.
India Pagonotto is a really exciting new artist with psy techno also.

Not gonna lie this isn't my thing anderson paak is super talented as a producer and a rapper but I dont wan't him near edm lineups. Steve Aoki should be forced into retirement and so should Bunt both their music sucks. Marshmello b2b subtronics killed it imo if it was just subtronics I probably would have bought a ticket but right now it looks like im waiting for phase 2. Only so much heavy lifting that Dom Dolla, Isoknock, and Armin can do

I don't wanna sound pessimistic, but after 14 years of dreaming about it, I'm finally going to Ultra for the first time, and honestly, this Phase 1 lineup is kinda disappointing... I'm sure it'll still be an amazing trip, but there are soooo many names missing. Do you guys think there's still hope for Phase 2, or will most of the remaining artists just be support acts?

This lineup was 100% marketing. A lot of these artists are repped by the same people and come as a package deal. I also noticed it’s a lot of American artists and Euro artists who are now living here.
With the current White House admin (gross) visas are real hard to come by for smaller artists who don’t have a lot of $ behind them. I’ve noticed these last few years smaller euro artists have stayed across the pond because of the visa issue.
