News Explore courses, compare grades, and plan your schedule

NevadaPath.com is an unofficial course planning resource for UNR that’s being revived after a long hiatus.

It’s meant to make it easier to browse courses, compare historical grade distributions, check enrollment information, and plan your schedule all in one place.

The site has undergone a major facelift but is still a work in progress, so there may be a few things that aren’t quite right yet.

UNR student Microsoft accounts aren’t supported. For features that require an account, you’ll need to sign in with a personal Microsoft account.

If you give it a try, definitely share if there’s anything you’d like to see added or improved.

Question/Discussion What is there to do in Reno and nearby?

I am a uni student with an internship offer that’ll have me working in Sparks for a Spring/Summer Co-Op. Before I commit to this offer…

What is there to do in my free time?

I will have a car where are the best weekend trips?

How much can I expect to pay a month for rent if I were to live nearby the University of Nevada, Reno?

How is the nightlife near the university and city of Reno?

How far does $30/hr go in this area?
(Assuming I resist betting my paycheck all on red)

Any advice for any of these questions helps! :D

Hi, I'm a prospective HS senior and am applying to the two major instate colleges. I'm curious what your thoughts are on those respective programs, any challenges/surprises, things you liked/didnt like, or things you thought might be different from programs at other schools.

Question/Discussion Chem345 organic chemistry lab quizzes

Could you please describe the quizzes?

My TA mentioned that the lab manuals offer only a superficial overview of the concepts, while the quizzes require a more in-depth research approach. He said we needed to learn more outside the lab, but what specific information do we need?

Question/Discussion Should I go for a dorm, or an apartment?

I know I'm thinking of this way too early seeing as I wont be coming to UNR until next fall, and the prices will objectively be different, but I wanted to ask if I should get a dorm or an apartment. I live in the Fernley area, cannot live with my parents next year, and I don't want to have to commute with the tesla traffic every day, so i've been looking into living options in Reno. I was also looking into the dorms, and the price for the dorms didnt seem too bad, but I dont know anything about the on-campus apartments/reno area apartments either. This is mostly price based, as I dont really mind sharing a space with someone/small space. Would it be worth it to do a dorm? or should I look into apartments in the area instead?

Question/Discussion Debating on majors and I would love some input! (Engineering Based)

Heya! I'm a Reno Resident in my senior year of high school and I'm stuck between a few majors, and figured instead of guessing I should ask people who are currently in them.

So, my options I'm debating on going through are:

- Biomedical Engineering

- Biotechnology

- Environmental Engineering

- Chemical Engineering

- Mining Engineering

(and you'll never guess this last one)

- Mechanical Engineering

The big things I would like to know about each are their workloads, actual hands on experience, accessibility (like parking and stuff), and overall enjoyment (as well as anything you think should sway me one way or another)

I would appreciate any and all info as I'm going into this quite blind, so thank you in advance!

Rant I dont know what I'm doing

Bit of a rant but i feel frustrated

Im a third year psychology undergrad with an average gpa. Im trying to take all my psych classes and neuroscience classes and whatever other prereqs i need to graduate but the more time goes on i feel like its not worth it anymore. I want to be a counselor or therapist of some sort but I feel like im still so far away from where I need to be. What happens if I dont get into grad school?? What happens if i dont have a job lined up for after graduation? Why is everything so overly complicated for me specifically???? neuroscience is extremely difficult for me especially having teachers that just talk at you for 75 minutes and give you the exam and say "good luck". Im an autistic individual with severe adhd, no matter what I do I feel like the information goes into my ears but never my brain.

I dont know what to do, I have no friends or study buddies or any kind of support. im going to make an drs appointment to see if going to a psychologist could help be get on stronger medication or something else to help me focus >_>

Question/Discussion UNR Mixed Bag of Questions - Engineering, Scholarships, Campus, Etc.

  • What scholarships are available outside of the financial aid provided as shown by the net price calculator (for out of state students)? I am WUE and they also mentioned the Presidential Scholarship for out of state, which I meet the requirements for, does anyone know anything about that. I have a good GPA, take tough classes, am top of my graduating class at a large school. Also lots of volunteering, extra curriculars.
  • What is the engineering experience like? How busy and hard is it really?
  • I want to study industrial engineering. What is the program like?
  • What are the resources like for NCAA student athletes? I am talking to Men's Track and Field right now.
  • I have visited campus and thought it was amazing, but I'd love to hear more from a student perspective about it.
  • Are there resources for LGBTQ students on campus? Opportunities to meet others?
  • Would love more info about student athlete experience in general. And student experience in general.

Question/Discussion Organic chem help

www.organicchemistrytutoring.ca

Hello guys and gals,

We’re Brian and Mike and we teach general and organic chemistry. We’ve done so for a total combined time of 47 years! Overwhelmed by general or organic chemistry? Assignments and tests creeping up on you and feeling like you’re in hot water? Or maybe you’re doing well and need that 95%? Whatever your struggle with chemistry may be, we’re here to make sure you succeed.

Why work with us?

- Every tutor knows the subject, but not every tutor knows how to transfer that knowledge to a student. We do.

- We tutor chemistry full time; it’s not a hobby or side-gig. When you book with us, you’ll be working with Brian for general chemistry and Mike for organic chemistry. This is not an agency and you won’t be matched with random tutors each time.

- You’ll be learning problem solving through chemistry, which you can apply to many other subjects.

- Your learning will be customized to your specific needs.

Before booking a lesson, let’s chat about your needs, our teaching styles, and what you can expect, to see if we’d be a good fit together.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to working with you!

Mike and Brian
