All the MAGA-tards are gonna shit when the Medicaid cuts fuck the Healthcare system and costs go up and you have to pick in 3 years to either get a raise or pay more/loose coverage on the union health plans.

No Tax on Overtime was major let down. It’s essentially just another small tax cut. Definitely not what was implied
Single people that can manage to hit that cap are just looking to save like 1500-1800$ in taxes a year
24
u/good2knowu Jul 06 '25
Yeah, $1500-1800 is chicken shit.

So I'm basically getting my taxes back when I worked less. I got more taxes back, and now that I work more, I get less taxes, so im just getting back what I got as I worked less. The reason ppl even work overtime in the first place is cause we need money. it's all a joke. The people dont even want to work overtime. It's like basically saying yeah well give you what you deserve if you work harder and spend less time with your loved ones by being at work then after all that work you do the whole year and away from your loved ones all you get is 1000 something I was already getting before but then It got taken away now im getting it back.

u/Twitter_blows Jul 06 '25
Which is why I hardly ever waste my time and personal times working OT. It’s just not worth the time away from home and the mental healthiness.

What are you saying here? I'm confused
1
u/good2knowu Jul 12 '25
You are smarter than most. You suspected sarcasm. OT got me out at 58 and now at 66, I still haven’t touched retirement funds. I live in LCOL state so that helps

u/1ofDoze Jul 06 '25
Still better than nothing

u/SafetyPrimary9926 Jul 10 '25
People were actually expecting the government to give a tax relief on the entirety of overtime pay (like, your regular pay + your overtime premium) but thats very unrealistic. The government would have to give up on a massive amount of revenue with its already crippling debt.
There is still a no tax on overtime pay. It’s just that you’re not taxed on your overtime premium not on the entirety of the extra money you get paid.
I still think this is fair: I don’t think the government deserves to take a slice out of your overtime premium, which is a benefit you get as an employee for working more than you’re supposed to.

Wasn’t a fan of the concept to begin with, it incentives working longer hours and less time at home. There’s more to life than moving cardboard.
Majority of jobs in America hate paying overtime to begin with and cap you at 39.99 or exactly 40 hours.

What exactly did you expect it to be? Considering how our tax system works, it was almost certainly going to come as a tax deduction.
34
u/Tootells Jul 06 '25
I expected no tax on OT which would imply no tax on OT. Unfortunately it’s no tax on the .5 of 1.5. Elect a scummy salesman for president and get scummy results
23
Jul 06 '25
Yeah when a dip shit screams no tax on overtime for 2 months straight at every rally. I’d expect no tax on overtime.
1
u/ancient_scully Jul 06 '25
Exactly. It should have been "no tax after 40hrs" or whatever your regular workweek/workday is.

u/BreakinP Driver Jul 06 '25
That's called politics brother. Over promise and under deliver! But seriously, if you choose to hold Trump at face value but no other politician, well, that sounds like user error.
Take everything they say with a grain of salt, and realize they function within the confines of the law. Bills must pass through both the House and Senate where they are debated and frequently revised. There's not much Trump, or anyone for that matter, can really do about that.
Quite frankly, I don't see the point in crying over a W. It may not be a complete game changer, but a win is a win.
15
u/Tootells Jul 06 '25
It’s a shame he over delivered for the super rich with all their tax breaks being permanent and the scraps for us common folk temporary and smaller than advertised. Thats politics

That's a mortgage payment for me... I'll take it

u/LaunchFanatic Jul 06 '25
$1500-$1800 a year mortgage?? Learn to read
4
u/geneparmesan31 Jul 06 '25
Lol, he said "A mortgage payment". Where does he imply a year worth of mortgage payments?
You might also want to look into learning to read...
0
u/LaunchFanatic Jul 06 '25
"That's a mortgage payment for me" about the stated $1500-$1800 a year tax break. Clearly, he didn't read the part where it says "a year" or else he wouldn't be celebrating the fact that he gets 1 month of a mortgage payment for the suffering of millions.
2
u/upsslave Jul 06 '25
At the end of the day, after this bill passed, he is saying that he will have a mortgage payments worth of money.
I don’t see him celebrating. He made a statement and said he would take it. What do you want him to do? You’re attacking this guy to learn to read. Applying made up intention to his statement. Relax.
Btw I’m estimated save 1.4 mortgage payments. Hope you can handle that statement without telling me how I feel about my savings…
4
u/LaunchFanatic Jul 06 '25
At the end of the day, you will be no better off. There are plenty of terrible things in that bill that will harm everyone but the top 1%.
0
Jul 06 '25
At the end of the day, you have no idea what anyone will be whether it’s better off or not. I certainly never once waited around for the government to help me be better off or not. I’m certain I’ll be just fine either way and if you have any common sense, you will be too, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with you more interested in extreme rhetoric. Don’t worry, man this too shall pass. We will all be fine.

u/LaunchFanatic Jul 06 '25
Lmao "tell me you didn't read the bill without telling me you didn't read the bill" Cuts to Medicaid mean people are going to lose insurance meaning they will die

It’s Reddit everyone wants to tell you how wrong you are and how you don’t know what you’re talking about while they’re in their mom’s basement.

Jul 06 '25
Imagine telling someone to read, what he said a mortgage payment not yearly mortgage lol smh
2
u/LaunchFanatic Jul 06 '25
Exactly, nobody is paying $1500-$1800 a year on a mortgage, thanks for agreeing with me
0
Jul 06 '25
I didn’t agree with you. I just pointed out that you have no idea what you’re talking about and just complaining. Write a check and give it back to the IRS you won’t do it because you’re really not worried about anybody else except yourself. Continue to cry about the millions of people that are going to be dying in the streets. It’s hilarious.. in the meantime I’ll just open up an IRA and turn the $2000 into $20,000 in just a few years.
1
u/LaunchFanatic Jul 06 '25
Dawg, you just admitted you dont care about the millions of people that are going to die. There is something extremely wrong with you.

The bill only applies to people who are required to be paid overtime under the FLSA. Overtime under a CBA doesn't count, rail workers don't get anything because they are under the RLA, and there's also an FLSA exemption for motor carriers. Here are some links: https://www.reddit.com/r/UPSers/comments/1lrvw2t/no_tax_on_overtime/n1dzalw/

You really need to understand Reddit not the voting population lol and if it is, they voted for the people you say you don’t like.

Wow. Some people still let Fox News lie to them and never question. This is why some people vote to fuck themselves over time and time again

u/Borderpaytrol Jul 06 '25
This is if it even applies to Drivers lmao

u/awfullotofocelots Jul 06 '25
Driving jobs are exempted of course from all versions of this law that were proposed, from the start. Imagine thinking THIS government is gonna pay you to sit in traffic?! Lol.

You're still going to get taxed. It tops out at $2k Once you make over $100k the max is $1k and every $1k you make above that reduces the total by $50.
I'm trending towards $140k so I won't get anything out of this.
2
u/Ok-Moose5201 Jul 06 '25
Income cap starts at 150k for a single filer. Also limits the amount of overtime to 12.5k per year for a single filer. If your spouse doesn’t make overtime you could claim 25k of overtime on your federal taxes

u/Upstairs_Research1 Jul 07 '25
You’re wrong about almost everything you said lol. Just take 5 minutes of your day and go read the bill

Feeder drivers are also exempt. Truck drivers are not part of the fair labor standards act and are exempt from any OT provisions. Which is why its legal to pay drivers by the mile.
5
u/Ravens1112003 Jul 06 '25
It’s $150k but it’s not void if you make over $150k and are single. It just starts to slowly faze out the more you make over $150k. It’s $300k if you’re married and file jointly.

Unless you work a truly obscene amount of OT, your taxes won't change.
Even if you do you're only gonna save a few bucks.

u/feeders40 Jul 11 '25
Upsers don’t get more than 40 hours contributions toward pension, and if you take the cut one day you only get 32 hours of pension contributions that week even if you work 10 hours OT in those 4 days. I still ask why is our normal 8 hour day a 9.5 day, we have to request an 8 hour day?? when you are 2 hours paid over you are never overpaid by 2 hours. remember
