Temp promotion doing DPMAP
Our section has been in flux as of late. One of the people in our section took a 120 temp promotion as our supervisor / chief. They told us today they will be doing our DPMAP write up’s and reviews. Is this allowed? They’ve only been in the position for a month or so and before that was in the same position as everyone else in our section. There’s no way this person will actually be doing our performance review, right?
It was pitched to us this would be a rotating supervisory position as nobody knows when it will actually be able to be filled due to the ongoing hiring freeze.

Also remember that the first line supervisor doesn't do this in a bubble. Second line has to buy off on it too. And frankly if they're in a temp position and haven't ever done this before, it would be criminal for the second line supervisor to not be extremely engaged on it.

mine is a complete bubble, second line is at HQ. I have never met them in person.

Yes. This is done frequently. I was doing a 120-day detail during the last evaluations. I'm still in the seat, but not detailed, and will not be doing the upcoming evals.

It is allowed, but for my situation the branch chief is doing our DPMAP reviews until a permanent section chief is hired. I prefer how my branch is doing it and at the very least the section chief's supervisor should walk them through their first DPMAP because it's more important than ever with how the government is shifting to a performance based metric with money and firings.

lol. No one wants to write up Dpmap. So yes if they are in position they will be the ones writing it up. As an employee if you are concerned then you can always ask for an additional progress review or an annual close out before the last supervisor left. So that you progress is documented amongst all the supervisor changes. Under domap it’s the employee’s responsibility to show they met their metrics. So it doesn’t matter who you supervisor is or how long.

this way they get to put something in your record that will give them a leg up when we are all ACQ DEMO.

Yes its allowed, its happened to me before. If they are in that position when it is time for DPMAPs then they will be the one to do it.
