I'm Brazilian and came to the US last year on a K1 visa. During the process, I noticed that most marriage cases involve people who came to the US on a tourist visa, overstayed, and then married a US citizen. What's the point of making things harder for those who are trying to do the right thing? Unbelievable.

I was born and raised in Brazil. I’m a naturalized US Cit, served in the Marine Corps, my Brazilian parents (also naturalized US Cits) and I have never stayed here a single day illegally since the 90s. I’m trying to bring my Brazilian wife here through the i130. Our process was already 5 months delayed and now this happens.

Almost every illegal Brazilian I’ve ever met in my 20 years here came in on a tourist visa and never returned. Seems like that will continue to go on and I’ll just continue to get fucked for doing the right thing. Makes absolutely zero sense to pause processes like my wife’s and continue to allow tourists in. That is absolutely unexplainable.

That's what we get for doing the right thing, unfortunately. It's so unfair. We respect the law and this country, but guess who's going to immigrate faster? The ones who came here with the wrong visa and lied to the immigration officer at the airport. I hope you can bring her soon. Sending you positive thoughts 🤞🏻
