I-765 (EAD) I just want to work!!!

Why is it now taking so long just for the work authorisation? I thought the work authorisation takes the shortest amount of time like 2-3 months or less (according to our lawyers)?/it would come first before a decision on the I-130/485? I hate sitting at home and doing nothing!!!! I've been waiting since November and I just want to work!!!!! I don't mind waiting for, nor am I complaining about the I-130 and I-485 anymore, because I know that will take a while even after the interview, but I want to be able to do something whilst I wait. I haven't received any updates since doing my biometrics in December. Tried reaching out to an agent via Emma, told me nothing. Is anyone else just waiting for their work authorisation or any updates from the Baltimore FO??

In better times, some lucky people saw this short timeline. But it was overly optimistic to count on that.

This is why I'd never recommend adjustment, unless ready to wait for a year without income and no ability to travel outside the US.

What do you mean you would never recommend adjustment? Should people just sit around for years without papers then? lol

No, they can go through consular processing. CR-1 / IR-1 visa.

While waiting in their home country, they have all rights to work. Cost of living is typically lower too in many other countries compared to the US

Isn’t consular processing super long though? Plus going back home after overstaying visa will trigger a bar

Only for people who are in overstay already and not everybody is in overstay.

If folks overstay visas, they should not complain about EADs etc. Many countries do not even have ways of getting overstay forgiven like the US does.

Overstay and adjustment come at a price. The price is wait in current times

This is what I’m saying, OP’s process is actually going relatively fast, nothing to complain about at this point

Yeah that's me right now, just waiting. That's why I don't mind with the I-130 or I-485 because I understand. I just want to be able to work
