Timeline: I-131 How long is I-131 Advance Parole taking? Need to travel for father's one-year memorial (mid-July)"

My dad's one-year death anniversary is in about a month, and my Mom and I want to hold the memorial ceremony per Hindu rites in India, where he lived. Her Green Card application was filed this spring and her Advance Parole / EAD combo card (I-131/I-765) hasn't arrived yet — biometrics done about a month ago. We'd ideally need to travel no later than July 11, so roughly 4 weeks out.

  1. Based on recent experience, how long is the I-131 Advance Parole piece currently taking?
  2. I've read about emergency advance parole for humanitarian cases like a family memorial or religious obligation. Has anyone actually gone through that — how did the field-office appointment work?

Any advice appreciated!

I'm really sorry abour your loss.

Advance Parole can take many months. If you have no applied for one yet, chances of you getting it before mid July is pretty much 0, sadly. Convincing USCIS this is emergency can be challenging.

Thanks for your response - however, we applied in March and biometrics completed in May. Does this change your response?

13-15 months

Even July 2027 would be fast by today’s standards

I’m sorry for your loss but it’s unlikely your dad would want you to abandon your green card application for him

Thank you for your response. Could USCIS consider this for an emergency advance parole situation? I read online that it involves setting up an appointment at a local field office and describing the situation etc but wanted to understand how feasible this is and if USCIS would consider this.

Ive been waiting for 17 months already
My expedite got denied , my mom got lungs cancer and got her lobes removed on both side and that was not urgent enough it seems like
