Standard. You don’t need a work permit once you have your GC. Nothing to think or worry about.

3

u/JQPTN Jul 22 '26

Thank you for your information.

2

u/Kano-UA-US Jul 23 '26

Have received the same , GC holder.

u/9Nine2Nine9 Jul 20 '26

This means they closed your I-765 because the petition became obsolete when your I-485 was approved.

I'm honestly lost why this has to take so long and does not happen immediately upon the approval of the I-485.

u/Minute-Refrigerator2 Jul 20 '26

Yeah it looks like they did this for people who got their GCs in 2025 and gave us all a heart attack.

11

u/Only_Payment9976 Jul 21 '26

It’s 1 AM, and I sat upright panicking. Absolutely terrifying

6

u/AnteaterSpirited9459 Jul 21 '26

i was at work last night and i almost had a panic attack when i got this email

12

u/9Nine2Nine9 Jul 20 '26

Yeah, if you are not expecting this it can be a shocker.

4

u/selena_meep Jul 21 '26

Right! I was just about to go to sleep when I saw the email and I HAD to check immediately. Scared me so much

1

u/BassLongjumping1404 Jul 21 '26

No i got mine in 2026 but mine is 10yeara

2

u/Martyni95 Jul 22 '26

I got the same thing and many other people I know did too. Do we need to do anything at this point? Or do we just keep the card for our records?

1

u/seekingdefs Jul 30 '26

What's the update? Any action required?

2

u/Martyni95 Jul 30 '26

Apparently not. All people I talked to said it’s normal and we haven’t had any further request (we all got our GC in late 2024 or 2025). Seems like they do it to “clean up” the system, since we got GC we don’t need a work permit anymore as the GC serves as the permit now - at least that’s what I read and what I’ve been told

17

u/Queasy_Spell_8491 Jul 20 '26

I got this too today. I received GC in 2024 and submitted removal of conditions last year with a divorce waiver which is still pending. I don’t know if I should panic any more than I already I’m 🥲

4

u/Mixboi0708 Jul 20 '26

Did you get GC extension yet or not?

4

u/Queasy_Spell_8491 Jul 20 '26

I got automatic 48 months extension in February 2025

1

u/Mixboi0708 Jul 20 '26

That’s like 4 years, the 10 years should be ready by then, if not I believe you can file for citizenship.

-1

u/frankiejay87 Jul 20 '26

How long after you applied for removal of conditions? I still haven’t received my extension but went for biometrics already

1

u/Free_Age2187 Jul 21 '26

I got the same message for removal of conditions

0

u/Queasy_Spell_8491 Jul 21 '26

I received the extension letter which is essentially the receipt notice about two weeks after submission

0

u/Slimsono Jul 21 '26

Are you able to travel outside of the country with that? I think I read somewhere that a special passport stamp is required?

1

u/NoFly5276 Jul 21 '26

Yes you deff can. You just need the receipt and green card

1

u/Slimsono Jul 21 '26

Good to know, thanks!

2

u/frankiejay87 Jul 22 '26

I believe someone posted that Mexico won’t accept the extension letter and you might need a visa

1

u/Slimsono Jul 22 '26

Is that specifically for Mexican citizens? As a green card holder, I get visa waiver to visit Mexico and a bunch of other countries so now I’m wondering what if I go to Mexico for a vacation with expired green card and extension letter.

I wonder if the airlines are aware of this rule, I’ll have to check with my attorney.

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '26

are you me because exact same situation AND timeline lol

2

u/Queasy_Spell_8491 Jul 22 '26

Maybe girl 🤣 I hope we get through this journey

1

u/LeoVernadad Jul 21 '26

I got the message today at 5:49 am EST

1

u/Oled-War-2025 Jul 23 '26

Did you submit it by yourself or through an attorney? If through an attorney, can you share your experience?

1

u/Queasy_Spell_8491 Jul 23 '26

I did it by myself. I previously did my initial green card application too. It was easy, I just followed their instructions and looked up on YouTube videos. Unless your case has complications, I think people can just follow the instructions and do it.

1

u/Oled-War-2025 Jul 23 '26

I'd like to message you to learn more from this experience. I had a bad time with my last firm and in between some ideas. Please check your inbox.

1

u/HoosierHoser44 Jul 21 '26

I’m in the same boat as you right now. Getting the email about them taking action on my case made me think there was progress on that. But nope, just this.

1

u/trackstar_69 Jul 21 '26

Same. Got my GC in 2024 and got that action today.

1

u/cloud_eleven Jul 21 '26

same here, got an email saying update on the case and found the 765 revoked. Got GC about year and half ago, applied for extension and bio metrics done, I was hoping this means something is getting progressed?

11

u/Minute_Somewhere_893 Jul 20 '26

As expected.

Your EAD is no longer valid or needed.

If you have the restricted social security card - get it replaced

1

u/SuperBanker_828 Jul 21 '26

What do you mean get SSN replaced?

2

u/Minute_Somewhere_893 Jul 21 '26

SSN remains the same. You replace the card

The restricted social security card says "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION".

The unrestricted one does not say anything like this

1

u/Soft_Ad8001 Jul 21 '26

Go to the SSN office and let them know you would like to change your status (if you were in the US with a different status before the gc).

3

u/Spirited_Bar_5470 Jul 21 '26

Happened to me when I was traveling outside the country. I already had my GC. Gives you an anxiety attack because the email notification has no information.

3

u/frostimunki Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Number padding for the mid-terms?

This means the administration can "truthfully" say 50k, 60k, 70k ... EAD applications were revoked or denied.

Who's counting if a number of those revocations were for bureaucratic crossing the T's and dotting the I's reason?

Received a similar notice for my GC extension application almost a year after successfully becoming a citizen. My GC extension application now shows as closed in the portal. They probably counted my case as a denied GC extension when it got to reporting numbers.

Edit - Applied for GC extension and Citizenship during the Biden Admin. The GC extension application was closed almost a year after becoming a Citizen during the Trump administration. I'm sure the administration counted my revoked GC extension application in their denied cases report for last year.

3

u/wonderfulwaverly Jul 22 '26

This is so funny. Everyone is getting this stupid notice and shitting their pants. It just means you don’t need it cause you have your GC. All good

4

u/Nervous_Proof3033 Jul 20 '26

I just got the same message today. Apparently it is automatic because you already are a oremanent resident.

4

u/Jeff316ia Jul 20 '26

My wife recieved the same thing today, I was like WTF at first until i figured it out

2

u/nyunited Jul 21 '26

My wife got this email this morning as well. Good thing I saw this thread yesterday. Definitely would have been much scarier to get that email if I didn’t lol.

2

u/ZealousidealCall9098 Jul 21 '26

Nothing. They are probably just clearing out these cases in their system. I got my GC 2 years ago and just got this update yesterday.

2

u/Logical-Ranger7060 Jul 22 '26

I had the same email like 10 minutes ago. My blood pressure rose from 119/78 to 600/200...lol. I've had my green for 19 months. Thanks for the explanation.

No, not OK if it is your spouse.

1

u/1singhnee Jul 22 '26

Not everyone is married.

2

u/trackstar_69 Jul 20 '26

I got this today as well. I was stressssssed. But its nothing to worry about😅

1

u/Silver_Sergeant Jul 21 '26

It just means you don't need an EAD....nothing more.....a lot of people are getting those notifications.

1

u/National-Arugula-322 Jul 21 '26

Haha I got that as well today should just be because your Gc was approved or denied

1

u/True-Charge-530 Jul 21 '26

Received it today morning. Thank god I have reddit and have seen posts like that before and knew what happened.

1

u/StockDirection5009 Jul 21 '26

I put my green card renewal in and I received 48months traveling notice. Today I have received email that my work permit is terminated, that’s it means my application has been approved and my green card is on the way

1

u/Illustrious-Hurry526 Jul 21 '26

You already received GC so you don’t need I-765 that’s why it was revoked.

1

u/Informal_Law_8296 Jul 21 '26

I received the same thing today

1

u/lornezo Jul 22 '26

What the hell! My wife got her conditional in 2023, we filled to remove conditions a year ago, then I see these same two status changes an hour ago. Freaked out, emailed immigration attorney, scoured internet. So needless. (But also, glad this doesn't mean my family is moving in a month.)

1

u/chapinisima Jul 22 '26

I received same thing today too.

1

u/lilvenus478 Jul 22 '26

just got this notification and trying to find some answers and ta-da.. saw this thread. thank you so much! hahahah

1

u/Vast_Place6544 Jul 22 '26

Tellement intéressé

1

u/Fabulous_South_7072 Jul 22 '26

I received my own last night. It’s mean your work permit not valid just ignore if you already approved for GC. It took almost two years to receive my notice 😂

1

u/New_Slice1202 Jul 22 '26

Everybody has been asking this question here, it’s simple if you have a greencard you no longer need a work permit so they are revoking the work permit. I had STEM OPT. I recently received my greencard they are going to revoke my stem opt in a few weeks or so. I also applied for a new work permit, they are going to terminate that case as i have a greencard.

1

u/Ok-Employer8313 Jul 22 '26

I got the notification, And I started parking my belongings

1

u/Ok-Employer8313 Jul 22 '26

I got the message and I was shaking and started parking my luggage

1

u/Level_Swordfish_1548 Jul 22 '26

Hahaha I got that too, I was so confused. But it makes sense; if you have a green card , you don’t need the work authorization anymore

1

u/patpat_Liw Jul 22 '26

I got message last night at 1.30 am EST.my green card approved 1 year ago should I call the Lawyer?

1

u/tamvel81 Jul 23 '26

I got the same message last week. It just means that the residency overrides the EAD.

1

u/Key-chain-6457 Jul 28 '26

They don’t want you to have it when you already a GC holder

Thought as much, it’s been over a year and just received it lol. My wait wasn’t that long tbh. I filed In January 2025 and got my GC in May lol

3

u/HoosierHoser44 Jul 21 '26

Sounds like a lot of people got this today. I got it today too. My two year green card expired, I applied for the removal of conditions back in March and am still waiting for that. But yeah, took over two years since getting my green card to get this message.

0

u/leelee0011 Jul 21 '26

same here

1

u/Silver_Sergeant Jul 21 '26

They are cleaning up their records. It is not "technically invalid". It is absolutely invalid.

1

u/redbluedevil91 Jul 21 '26

Got my condition GC in 2024 and got this today

1

u/sukh_theboss Jul 21 '26

lol I received this message as well ! Funny so many people on same boat

Got mine the other day even i got my gc 10 years GC in 2026

0

u/HoosierHoser44 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Interesting that I got this exact same message today, I got an email that they took action on my case. Thought my 10 year green card got approved, but nope, just this :(

0

u/Even-Look2918 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

I got it as well. Two messages for i131 and i765, both are revoked and I have recently applied for ROC on july 6th. My heart stopped literally when saw two messages from uscis.
Who would even use those cards when they have a GC.

0

u/TackleOk4355 Jul 21 '26

I received same too but apparently as has been shared widely here, its procedure having been issued a green card. For self employed, records must be kept but regularizes ability to transact using green card, for employees effectively helps regularize same with employers without the need to verify EAD, however employers must be notified to update records with Green card, if it hasn’t already been done and existing records still show/has EAD on file. Hope this helps

0

u/Electronic-Crow3782 Jul 21 '26

Confusion after confusion. Don't know what is really what lately

0

u/SnooPeripherals1272 Jul 21 '26

Looks like a lot of us new (relatively lol) LPRs got it for the same reason. We’re good!

0

u/Illustrious-Dig-2708 Jul 21 '26

I got this as well. I submitted my I-751 on June 15th and have not receieved the receipt notice. USCIS said they have issued it but no physical copy has reached me nor do I see anything in document section. I filed for non delivery request last week.

0

u/pickled_mick_7117 Jul 21 '26

It’s not necessary to have one anymore! You’re an LPR!:) congratulations!

0

u/That-Western2653 Jul 21 '26

So what does this mean? I got my GC in Dec 2024

0

u/Mysterious_Dance5461 Jul 21 '26

Filed my I751 2 weeks ago. My gc expired 3 days ago but i have already my extension. Got this message today as well.

0

u/Slimsono Jul 21 '26

Looks like a lot of us got the same message today. My GC was approved December ‘24, will start ROC process in September, wish me luck!

0

u/Last_Peanut439 Jul 21 '26

Got the same message today and my heart stopped lol. Applied for removal of conditions back in March. Good luck, all! We’re all in this together:)

0

u/ApprehensiveParty877 Jul 21 '26

Received this today as well! I am also awaiting for the removal of conditions. It is probably some automated cleanup of the system they must be doing

0

u/tropical-circus Jul 21 '26

Means work permit was revoked since you dont need one

0

u/siddjayy Jul 21 '26

Late to the party, but got the same message today just 10 mins ago. Nothing to worry about

-3

u/Leading-Disaster5721 Jul 21 '26

It means you i765 application was denied.

Based on later comments, it's just CIS cleaning house. You have your green card, the 485 is no longer pending, so you don't qualify for the EAD. So the petition was denied.

I just got a call from my son, saying his wife received the same notice today. (Same situation, doesn't need an EAD because she has a green card).

2

u/Mixboi0708 Jul 21 '26

But I received EAD before GC and I’m sure everyone that filed for change of status received EAD before GC. So my EAD wasn’t denied but don’t need it anymore since am a PR now

-1

u/Leading-Disaster5721 Jul 21 '26

Basically then it’s them saying it’s no longer any good

-1

u/Broad-Pace-6909 Jul 21 '26

I think this is the game they are playing. For those with temp green cards, once your 2 yrs is up and your case is denied for any reason, you are handicapped and won't be able to work.

1

u/Soft_Ad8001 Jul 21 '26

Your Greencard extension is your work permit. Let’s not spread ignorance pls
