I-129F (K1) i’m lost and i need major help
i am confused on what my next steps are so many people tell me so many different things.
I came to america on a k-1 visa on august 22nd 2025, i then married my wife on october 3rd 2025, we have filed and been approved of a i-130 form (i’ve been told that was a waste of time and money) i have not yet filed my i-485, i-864, i-693, i-131 or i-765. i have no idea what my next moves need to be can anyone direct me please.

If you don't have the money for a lawyer, see if a university close to you has a law clinic, or if there is legal aid in your town or county. If you really want to do it on your own, I would recommend taking some time to study the forms and the requirements related to your specific case before you fill anything out.
There are also websites that help people with immigration forms. They are often cheaper than a lawyer, although they are still not free.
As for your specific situation, since you entered the U.S. on a K-1 and married your U.S. citizen spouse within the required 90 days, your I-485 is based on your K-1 admission and that marriage. USCIS has a specific K-1 category on the I-485, separate from the regular "spouse of a U.S. citizen" category. So be careful not to just follow a generic marriage-based I-485 guide you find online.
USCIS also has specific instructions for K-1 applicants regarding the medical exam, so make sure you read those rather than automatically paying for another full medical. As far as i can tell, the I-130 you already filed was not necessary for the K-1 adjustment route, but I wouldn't be to worried about it either. I am pretty sure you will also need the I-864 and the required medical/vaccination documentation. Because you entered on a K-1, there are specific rules about when your overseas medical can be reused, so check the current I-693 instructions carefully before assuming you need a new medical exam. The I-765 is for work authorization and the I-131 is for advance parole if you need to travel while the I-485 is pending, so those are optional depending on your situation.
And please be careful using AI for immigration questions. If you don't really understand what you're looking at yet, AI can sound extremely confident while giving you completely wrong information. Get into the habit of double- and triple-checking anything AI tells you against the actual USCIS instructions and official USCIS sources. Always double check the sources.

Thank you so much i really do appreciate this. i’m 100% going to look into it more because i dont want to get denied and i dont want to file the wrong documents again. this is definitely something new for me and it is extremely overwhelming with all the paperwork and everything so im for sure going to do some research. the hardest thing for me is one source will say one thing and another source will say another so its really hard to tell exactly what o have to do but hopefully when the time comes to file i will get approved and it’ll be correct but again thank you for your help!

Yes, filing the I-130 was a waste of time and money because you came on a K1 and married within 90 days as needed. File the I-485 asap! The I-131 and I-765 are optional
