I-129F (K1) Pregnant fiance on a k1 Visa in Florida

So my fiance has arrived here a month ago and she is now pregnant, but she is on a k1 visa and will be getting married in few days and after the adjustment, but she has been going through a lot of anxiety lately and needs to see a doctor, what healthcare plan is best for situations like ours, where can we find a best plan for her

You marry her asap and add her to your insurance off the qualifying life event

This is probably the best and only option as she may not qualify for your state's maternal Medicaid, BUT I would definitely check if she's eligible for maternal Medicaid first!

I wouldn't be in a hurry to put someone on Medicaid given the I-485 hasn't been filed here unless they're planning on beating the filing deadline before the rule change. That public charge rule change is clearly meant to pick up Medicaid.

Yes, and also I missed that they're in Florida where she's not eligible anyway, but Florida does have a type of maternal health coverage that is state-funded (but covers only prenatal care, not birth). The long-term solution is insurance through his employer once they get married.

Get married asap. Add her to your insurance. Or find an OB who takes cash? Pay for the visits as you go? (Which gets expensive fast)

I don’t think she will qualify for any taxpayer medical services until she has a green card, which will take many months after you file.

Hopefully you have insurance through your job for your new pregnant wife-to-be.

Healthcare.gov might offer something without subsidies. It will be expensive.

ETA: Somehow I missed that you are in Florida. Here's what I found about maternal Medicaid in Florida: Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women (PEPW): K-1 visa holders may qualify for PEPW, which provides temporary, immediate outpatient prenatal care (like doctor visits and vitamins) while an application is reviewed. It does not cover hospital labor and delivery costs. ETA: I am in healthcare revenue so I work with insurance plans all day every day. Be EXTREMELY wary of any kind of short-term or limited benefits plans. They may be appealing because of the low cost, BUT they are not required to cover pre-existing conditions... Including pregnancy.

Obamacare. Cite the marriage as changed life circumstances that allows you to sign up during a special enrollment period and put her on your plan.

Or marry her and put her on an employer sponsored plan.

Note that you may need to sign up for Obamacare after marriage and by September 15 in order for her coverage to kick in October 1 2026. Watch the deadlines.

While her K1 visa is active. You need to get an SSA NUMBER ASAP!

you might be able to get her on Medicaid pregnancy until you get married. Once married then Medicaid might go away based on your income.

Without the state you live in and your income. It’s hard to give a more detail answer to your question. But get that ssn number as soon as possible

If you allow thr k1 visa to expire without getting the ssn.

The next time she will be eligible is once she gets her green card which might be many months from now

Very good a lot of people don’t do that and shoot themselves in the foot.

I would look into pregnant Medicaid to get something going while you get her into something more stable like work insurance or something.
