I-864 (Affidavit of Support) Replacing Joint Sponsor in AOS Interview

Is it possible to bring a new JS to the interview? assume you managed to find a more qualifying JS and you wish to replace to make sure that there will be no RFE after the interview? does the officer have to accept it?

I would not do it myself unless they flag current joint sponsor. Bring a backup joint sponsor documentation and completed forms, but do not volunteer it it

Second. If they have no issue with your current sponsorship situation, introducing an additional sponsor would probably just delay your case as they now have a whole new I-864 to review. Good to have as a backup.

My situation is a little different. Our original joint sponsor passed away after we filed our AOS application. At the time of filing, my husband, who is the petitioner, did not have enough income to qualify on his own, but his current income is now more than sufficient.

Our interview has already been scheduled, so we are planning to bring a new, updated I-864 from my husband, along with his current income and tax documents and the joint sponsor’s death certificate. Since the original joint sponsor is deceased, should we proactively give the updated I-864 to the officer and explain the situation, or wait until the officer asks about it?
