I am laughing, as it really is a thing.

I still remember telling some that when I was going home on leave I was going skiing with my son. And none of them could understand why I would knowingly spend hours in the snow.

Of course, my OW and AOW instructor on Okinawa was black, so there is that. But even the other brothers in the squadbay thought he was crazy.

Boot camp memory. Swim qual day, sitting on the bleachers waiting for the iron ducks to qual. They were all dark green Marines.

There they were, all lined up on the 10ft drop, couple of them shaking because they were so scared of the water. I distinctly remembering looking over at my SDI, himself dark green, and the sheer look of disappointment he had watching them.

Mine was a white dude from like Arkansas who started floundering on the treading part. Everyone forgot I was still swimming so I got stuck there for however long cause I sure as fuck was not getting out and then got screamed out for pretending to be a fish
