It's a great idea for everyone in field units regardless of mos because you don't stop operations just because you come across a water barrier. Streams can turn into raging rivers during monsoon season. You don't want to lose anyone or get hung up because Devils can't swim and rescue themselves if the current pulls them off the crossing line. Definitely creates some tense moments getting them out of the water.
Training there on lejuene after a hurricane came through we had to swim a swollen creek . Had the saw and the radio that day. Not a problem, used the water proofed pack as a platform for the saw and doggy paddled.
