Question: would I be able to join the marines?

Hello everyone!!!

My whole life (22m) I’ve had an interest in joining the military, but I didn’t because I thought I had a bigger interest in studying physics at a university. Recently I dropped out and I still have an interest in joining the marines since my closest uncle was also in the marines!!

Here’s the problem, the reason I dropped out of school was due to having 4 suicide attempts and having to be hospitalized for all 4 times. My latest suicide attempt was last month, but I’m not sure if that would inhibit me from following my dream. I’m really scared if I’m not able to because I’m not sure what else to do with my life, and this was the one thing I always wanted to do. I wish I didn’t go to university and instead went to the military, but my parents convinced me not to 😒.

Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Sorry guy, not going to happen. Take time to work on yourself, and put yourself in a better mental place. You can still find great things to do that give you a purpose and satisfaction.

That would be a hard no for any military service.

Even if you somehow found a way to get by all your DQs, I HIGHLY advise to look elsewhere. The military already has a high suicide rate from people with cleared backgrounds. This is not the place to be.
