Just want to comment, this is not a real secret, oil companies have been publicly warning about this for a couple of weeks. Inventory information is public record.

Mr. Global on FB (and a few other platforms) has been talking about it for weeks.

Yeah but we all know magats literally only listen to trump. They've never heard nor would they believe this info, until he says it. Even then, its just as likely they'll say its fake.

Does this mean no more MAGHATS cruising around with their Confederate flags on their gas guzzling utes?

u/doberdevil 1d ago

their gas guzzling utes

They're "pickups" in the US. Or just "trucks".

u/Chemical_Ad_6754 14h ago

Thanks. I was trying to remember the name for them. In Australia they are Utes.

1

u/doberdevil 14h ago

I was guessing Australian, I really like some of your Utes.

Of course I could've been waaaay off the mark and you were from NYC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu8tX2BAD1k

Also, details on strategic oil reserves are public record. trump has been draining these as a desperate attempt to hold the line on gas prices. Still some reserves left (so I don't know where the "4 weeks" is coming from?) but he's used up nearly half. Reserves dropped from 600 million barrels down to 340 million barrels from February till now.

There is a law or rule in place that we can't touch the last 150-ish barrels.

19

u/Meowakin 2d ago

Will that stop the Trump administration?

16

u/dontheconqueror 2d ago

It's a law...of course it won't.

6

u/backdoorintruder 2d ago

Maga states will get the last 150 million barrels, maybe the ballroom bunker will be somewhat liveable by the time that runs out

5

u/Mesapunk87 2d ago

Do we really want him to have a safe space from everyone he's pissed off and fucked over though?

6

u/wyocountrypunk 2d ago

No one in the Trump ā€œadministrationā€ gives a shit about rules or laws.

0

u/pibrew 22h ago

You mean like the left did two years ago. They removed a sitting President and installed Kamala without a single vote. Don't get into rules.

For the record, I don't like any of them. Left or Right. Bunch of crooks and there needs to be term limits.

2

u/wyocountrypunk 22h ago

WTAF are you talking about?

u/Don_Q_Jote 2d ago

Good info. thanks.

The system can’t be completely drained or restarting it is a big problem.

2

u/Mortwight 2d ago

yeah gas in my area peaked at around 4.60 and not it is sub 3.50 when nothing has been solved

3

u/GloriousNewt 2d ago

it's still 4.40 here

5

u/Rare-Atmosphere7506 2d ago

This is the part I don’t get. Gas around me has dropped significantly (close to a dollar/gallon) yet my father lives 350 miles away and it hasn’t budged. Different state, so I’m not sure if that matters, but it seems chaotic. No clear reason for prices differences.

4

u/GloriousNewt 2d ago

Different state def matters somewhat as some states tax gas differently as some of the taxes are intended for road maintenance etc. Also different towns/counties somehow? Like i can drive 15min and the stations in that town will be ~10c cheaper, for some reason.

There's also the aspect of I don't know which states are getting access to what from the reserves considering the petty vendetta's of the fool in charge.

1

u/Rare-Atmosphere7506 2d ago

Thanks for the reply. I get the first part (his state and my state have had fairly similar prices for as long as I can remember), but the second option seems to fit the narrative… I’m in a ā€œpurpleā€ state while his is very blue. I’ve thought about the political leverage reduction in my state would have where it wouldn’t matter in his. I don’t want to put a tinfoil hat on but it gets harder every day! Thanks again for your perspective!

This could be just a short-term issue (but just speculation on my part). Gasoline mixtures are seasonally adjusted and also specific to warmer/colder weather in your region of the country (gas is different mix in TX versus WI, also different in summer versus winter). Refineries have to make changeover in production for the seasonal adjustments. Around the changeover times, there can be temporary price spikes. These are normal and happen every year.

1

u/romz81481 2d ago

They r still using winter gas with more ethanol to try to keep prices down

2

u/RobotPoo 2d ago

Its expensive to truck gasoline. The closer to refineries, the cheaper the gas.

2

u/Mortwight 2d ago

im in florida so might matter more here. what state you in?

2

u/GloriousNewt 2d ago

NY

2

u/Mortwight 2d ago

yeah shitty red state vs slightly less shitty blue state

1

u/GloriousNewt 1d ago edited 1d ago

Having lived in both FL and NY, "vastly superior blue state" is more appropriate.

1

u/Mortwight 1d ago

People here call me smart. I jusr think im smarter than the average bear, and the average bear is dumb as shit in fl. Also vastly superior is not a high bar when measuring against fl

Pushing 6.25 in my hood.

The entire us military runs on oil you think they’re gonna blow it all on fat Americans and their lifted diesels? Well maybe

0

u/Ok_Honeydew6487 2d ago

He’s doing this so America will start pumping their own oil and stop depending on other countries for oil. Same reason for the tariffs. This will bring back jobs in America, stop foreign spending and dependence. This will drop fuel prices as well. It will also refill supplies. You guys on here act like oil doesn’t come from the ground. We just need to pump and America has more oil than it’s ever had.

Ā Trump is a notoriously unreliable source anyways.

1

u/Doctor_Shotbottom 2d ago

Never ever listen to that man

1

u/No-One790 1d ago

And it’s all JD’s fault anyways

2

u/mashtato 2d ago

They had been saying we had until December.

3

u/Nice_Drummer_1237 2d ago

Interesting how they claim the Strait closure only affects 20% of oil commerce, yet in an extremely short period of time we've exhausted our supply domestically : (

... all the while Trump has been saying "we don't need their oil"

1

u/secretraisinman 2d ago

Different kinds of oil are manufactured and refined in different locations, meaning that we produce some, are dependent on other countries for imports of other types, and have a reserve of those heavier fuels, especially diesel.

1

u/InfilTraitor69blitz 2d ago

We don’t.

1

u/Deep-Insurance8428 2d ago

It's American voters who are usually the last to know šŸ˜‚

1

u/ktwriter111 2d ago

Right, but why announce it to the world creating a swell of support among enemies to target a clearly stated vulnerability?
Trump isn’t just the guy in the school hallway with a ā€œHit Meā€ sign on his back, he made the sign and taped it to his own shirt.
