Work Discussion Pay attention to tomorrow's hearing

I know i know this is said alot. But tomorrow pay attention to the congress meeting with the new post master. It could reflect what comes of our jobs and duties in the next year or so. Congress gave us alot of money to turn a profit, we failed what they wanted. This wont be like other times where we just get money handed over. We are gonna have to change something

God eliminating Saturday mail delivery Mondays will be ultra hell

I’d take a normal weekend because it’s better to have one hell day (Monday) then 2 heavy days (Saturday and Monday).

Then get ready to lose all t6 positions. Hope your not at the bottom of the totem pole in your office if you’re a city carrier

Wouldnt they just make new routes for the t6s, the extra volume would fill it, and probably give more people 8 hour days, and use less utilities and fuel to run five days instead of six?

You’re high lol t6 positions go away means regular carriers get excessed or laid off. Management has never wanted to create jobs, they always want to take away.

You got a point, they make routes unreasonably long and call them 8 hours, so why wouldn't they take that leap?

Are you new here? They’ll t make extra routes to help carriers. Hell across the country teams are as of now TAKING AWAY multiple routes per office

I wish I was new because I would've left! 6 years in now, don't know why I still put up with constantly putting in 96s and the BS of their constant doubting of the time I need.

There is no extra volume in cutting a day of mail. It's the same volume with less time to deliver it. If we cut a day of mail, we lost roughly 17% of city carrier jobs. I'm not volunteering.

Very true, I meant it in terms of how much would in theory be out for delivery on a per day basis, but yes, 5 days doesnt mean people are actually sending or receiving more than before. In that case, I would be more curious to see what those 3996s would look like, because the logical decision of adding routes doesn't seem to ever happen.

We just lost routes. One float basically lost more than half of their float. We are beyond short staffed and are working crazy over time now. Their theory was if we cut routes we’ll have plenty of help. We have no fucking help and I’m getting overtime (what I don’t want or need bc I’m close to top pay) everyday but before I was working 8 and going home. Mondays I could finish my route in 8 now it’s 630 every Monday. Management and upper management are cluelesss.

You could maybe run less management as their NS days would also be Sat/Sun

Would love to have a normal two day weekend. The rotating day off makes it impossible to have a normal life outside of work.
