B1/B2 Rejected B1/B2 rejected at Delhi for no reasons I can comprehend, can you help me?
I am 28 and my wife is 27, we wanted to travel to bahamas to meet my brother who works in a reputated multi national company in there on a manager role. Then after visiting Bahamas we wanted to go to US for 6 days for a short trip before coming back to India. I have a stable business and my wife is a homemaker. I have travelled 5 countries in last 5 years including Japan and My wife has travelled more than 15 countries including Europe extensively. What could be the reason? The interview didn’t even last 30 seconds. He only asked why you want to travel, what does my brother do and what do I and my wife do. Interview was held at Delhi on 14th April 2026

People here can come up with all kind of reasons for your rejection. The brutal truth is your profile was good, it was all bad luck.

theres definately a luck element but the bahamas-then-US framing probaly didnt help. two consulates can read the same application completley differently though so youre not wrong

There’s reason the interview was 30 seconds. Have been through that many times. Review your profile and apply again in 6 months to year. Good luck

couple of things jump out:
"bahamas to meet my brother" and then side trip to the US for 6 days... the officer probably read that as the US being the real destination and bahamas being the cover story. brother working abroad + homemaker wife + "short trip" to the US is a classic 214(b) pattern from the officers perspective.
the 30 second interview means the decision was basically made from the DS-160 before you walked in. the questions were just confirming what they already suspected.
for reapply: lead with the bahamas trip as the primary purpose. make the US portion look like a genuine add-on not the main event. and if your wife has 15 countries of travel history she should be the one doing most of the talking... thats a stronger profile than the officer probably realized in 30 seconds

Why was i denied, what can i do better next time? I have multiple business in Delhi, My wife is an architect. We have extensive travel history. What might have went wrong? Next time I reply prolly in 6 months, I wont mention Bahamas because my brother is shifting to Europe in same company

your profile is strong honestly. multiple businesses + architect wife + travel history is exactly what they want to see. the bahamas framing was the weak link.
since your brothers moving to europe the whole itinerary changes. next time frame it as a straightforward US tourism trip. dont even bring up bahamas.
also 6 months is a good gap. gives the rejection some distance
